Chapter 114 Eiji and Ai's Way Home
Eiji and Ai’s Way Home
Eiji’s PoV
“Senpai, sorry to keep you waiting!”
Ichijo-san, who had agreed to meet me at the school gate, arrived a little late. I was going to pick her up at her class, but I was glad she came.
“Are you okay? You’re out of breath.”
She giggled and nodded.
“I’m fine. Sensei called me, but everything was fine. More importantly, what are we doing today?”
“Oh, yes. Actually, the editor contacted me yesterday to ask if we could meet in person and asked if we could meet around 5 o’clock if possible. It looks like he’ll be at a cafĂ© in front of the station. …”
The junior in front of me hears these words and her eyes light up.
“This is great! Senpai’s story moves quickly. Then you’ll let people read the other story you wrote, right?”
“Yes, I sent some of them as attachments to emails, so we’ll be able to hear what they think. But I’m pretty nervous. I’m afraid I’ll get torn to shreds.”
“Don’t worry. I read them and they were all very interesting!”
When she says that, I feel a little relieved.
“Then I can relax. Ichijo-san knows a lot about novels.”
“Hehe! Oh, we still have about an hour and a half before the meeting, so let’s kill some time somewhere outside the station. I’ll be back before the meeting, so please play a little. It’ll be better than waiting alone, right?”
“Of course. What shall we do? Oh, how about an arcade?”
I was a little nervous about inviting Ichijo-san, who doesn’t seem to go to very loud places, but I was relieved to see her eyes light up at my suggestion.
“Are you sure?”
“It’s fine. I wonder if it’s okay with Ichijo-san? Won’t your assistant scold you?”
“Hmm. Yes, maybe she will, but at least for today it’s okay.”
“Well, let’s go. By the way, have you ever been there?”
“No, I haven’t! I’ve always wanted to go. I want to get stuffed animals. And maybe a racing game. I saw it on TV and thought it would be fun. I heard that friends from my class were going, but for some reason, they didn’t invite me. Maybe I made them feel uncomfortable. …”
Seeing her talking to me in a more cheerful way than usual makes me happy too.
So we are moving forward together.
Takayanagi’s PoV
After securing Amada, it was determined that she was emotionally unstable and dangerous to leave alone, so we decided to protect her in the infirmary. We left her alone with Mitsui-sensei and waited for her to calm down.
“… However, a first-year student who happened to be feeling unwell on her way to the infirmary found Amada-san wandering around suspiciously and rescued her. …”
The principal breathes a sigh of relief.
“It seems that Amada-san’s guardian is at the hospital right now. I’m afraid to leave her alone. We have to do something. The door on the rooftop seems to have been unlocked due to a malfunction. It should be repaired immediately to prevent a recurrence.”
The Vice Principal moves quickly. The rooftop is safe for now.
But, maybe Ichijo-san is lying. It’s too much of a coincidence and … she should’ve followed Amada, but she was standing in front of her on the rooftop. Maybe she stepped in front of her to stop Amada? But … it’s still unnatural. Still, the school should be grateful. She prevented a student from committing suicide.
I heard she comes from an influential family. I need to keep a close eye on her from now on. Given her background, she might have a dark side as well.
As for the literary club that Amada mentioned in her testimony, we will conduct a thorough investigation starting tomorrow. We will not let them get away with it. We’ll see how far they can go under the pretext of disposing of Aono’s personal belongings without permission.
Manager’s PoV
I ran home and holed up in my room without eating anything… Then I wrote a short story.
I uploaded it to a submission site. I’m sure it’ll be good this time.
I’m hungry because I didn’t put anything in my mouth.
My mother is at work. It’s too much trouble to cook something.
Let’s get something to eat somewhere. With that in mind, I managed to get out of the house.
