Chapter 102 End: Their Epilogue
Their Epilogue
On the night of Christmas Eve, when we had our first kiss.
Haruki and I became one in body and soul… or so I wish I could say, but that didn’t happen.
And that’s only natural.
Haruki is still a minor.
Even if deep down I wanted it, even if Haruki was willing, neither Setsuko-san nor the law would ever allow it.
So, with great reluctance, I took Haruki back to the main house yesterday and ended up sleeping in the detached house.
Honestly, I was so worked up I couldn’t sleep at all.
“…My head hurts.”
I got dressed while enduring the headache.
By the way, I borrowed Tokishirou-san’s clothes.
There were only men’s clothes that belonged to him, so there was no helping it.
Not that I minded wearing them.
They just didn’t fit.
Tokishirou-san is about ten centimeters taller than me.
After putting on my shoes and stepping out of the detached house, I headed toward the main house.
I figured it would be okay now.
“It’s been a while…”
“Good morning, Kengorou-san.”
“Ah, yeah… good morning.”
“By the way, is it okay for you to come in?”
“Yeah… looks like it’s fine.”
Ever since I broke up with Fuyumi, I hadn’t set foot in the Ayase family’s main house even once.
Because this place is full of memories of Fuyumi.
So many that I hesitated to even come near it.
But now, it’s different.
“…It’s thanks to you, Haruki.”
“Thanks to me?”
Whether she was still half-asleep or just too unsettled,
Haruki forgot even the gyaru tone she usually used and asked me plainly.
“Yeah. Because you supported me and helped me repaint everything, I’m who I am now.”
“…”
When I was at my lowest, you stayed by my side.
You shared your smile with me.
When I thought I had lost everything and was left empty, you gave me back a reason to live.
Do you know how big that was for me?
The fact that I’m standing here alive proves it.
“Haruki.”
“What?”
“I love you.”
“Huh?!”
In an instant, Haruki’s face flushed bright red.
She’s so easy to read.
And that makes her even more adorable.
It’s not just her face.
Her gestures, her voice, her pure side, her gyaru fashion and makeup, and the kindness she shows me.
I love all of it, every single part.
“You’re being way too forward just because we kissed already.”
“Haha, did you hate it?”
“No, not at all. But…”
Suddenly, Haruki closed the distance between us.
She wrapped her arms around my neck.
Our lips reunited after only a few hours apart.
Soft warmth and heat flowed through the touch of our lips.
“Haruki…”
“Kengorou-san…”
“My, my, you’re passionate this early in the morning.”
““Pffft!””
Haruki and I both burst out laughing.
When we nervously turned toward the voice, there was Setsuko-san.
Holding up her smartphone.
“Mom! What are you doing?!”
“Oh, don’t mind me. That was a lovely treat.”
“Breakfast is coming up, so delete that right now!”
“Ahaha…”
With Haruki and Setsuko-san making a racket first thing in the morning, I could only watch with a wry smile.
There may be all kinds of things ahead of us.
But if it’s the two of us, we’ll be okay.
Thinking that, we walked into the Ayase family’s main house.
And began preparing breakfast.
“Hey, Kengorou-san.”
“Yeah?”
“I love you too.”
“…Yeah.”
The End.
Oh I wasn't expecting it to end just like that.
