Chapter 263: Kondo’s Judgment
Kondo’s Judgment
Kondo’s Perspective
“Wh-why are you lying?”
The words I managed to force out trembled. Even when I gripped my own hand tightly, the shaking would not stop.
The flustered judge said, “Kondo-kun, be quiet,” and cautioned me. Even with that, Miyuki’s betrayal was so shocking I could not think straight.
Miyuki, as if to refute me, was forcing out her answer.
“It’s not a lie… I was told to make the lie real, suddenly given bruises, then had photos taken of them… before I knew it they were spread everywhere…”
All my previous hopes collapsed. What does this mean, what does this mean. If she denies it here, it is over. If that happens, my dream of becoming a professional soccer player, my desire to have many women at my side, the comfortable life I thought I had… Everything will vanish.
Why would you tell the truth?! Miyuki!!!
“Very well. Witness, one last confirmation. The perpetrator’s statement was false, correct?”
I noticed the judge deliberately avoided using my name and instead said perpetrator. It looked like a move to make it easier for Miyuki to testify.
I tried to stand and suppress my panic, but two guards on either side held me down.
“It was false. He was lying the whole time. He is someone who kept trying to convince himself that his lies were the truth.”
Strength drained from me. Nausea and rage swelled up fiercely. Still, there was nothing I could do.
“Then, witness, you may step down.”
Miyuki slowly passed by my side.
“H-hey. Miyuki. Wait, please wait.”
The guard beside me said, “Stop,” and warned me, but I ignored him and reached out to Miyuki. However…
Miyuki looked at me with a look of deep pity, then turned a cold gaze my way. She said the word “I’m sorry” as a clear, emotionless rejection. After that, she did not spare me a single glance and disappeared.
The guard beside me gave me a look of contempt, as if viewing garbage.
“Hey, this has to be a lie. I am the next treasure of Japanese soccer and…”
“That has nothing to do with the judgment. Do you have any rebuttal to the testimony just given?”
The judge replied, sounding exasperated.
“It’s a lie, it’s a lie. That’s right, Miyuki must be being threatened by someone. That has to be it!”
My shout echoed through the room.
“Then, how about the testimony from the other students?”
The judge signaled the prosecutor with his eyes, and the prosecutor read aloud the other students’ statements.
“There are numerous eyewitness accounts of you punching the victim after he protested about false rumors spread in the hallway. There is also testimony that you sent the photo of the fabricated bruise to the soccer club timeline claiming it was fabricated by the victim, implicitly threatening to spread it. And more…”
One by one, my past misdeeds were exposed in a way that made me want to cover my ears.
“Kondo-kun, will you still not admit it? Do you not feel sorry for the victim?”
After hearing the testimony, the judge asked me that.
My heart was in tatters and I could no longer think. Still, only one phrase came out.
“I am not at fault. All that testimony is a lie.”
In that instant, it seemed most of the adults in the room let out a heavy sigh. Huh? Why was that?
“There is no need for further debate. We will move to a conclusion. Objective evidence is already in place, and aside from the defendant’s claims, there are no contradictions. There is no room to doubt the charges. The defendant shows no remorse, offering only contradictory self-justifications, and gives no sign of reflection. Defense counsel, any objections?”
Hey, do not proceed on your own without me.
“I tried to persuade him to properly reflect and admit his guilt… but he has a paranoid character and may be mentally unstable…”
The old lawyer spoke as if clinging to a last possibility, but even he sounded resigned, as if he had given up on getting his client to take responsibility.
“I see. However, the medical assessment does not support that. Rather, a young person like this needs firm rehabilitation.”
“…”
The defense attorney had no answer to the judge’s words. So… am I… doomed?
“Then, we will announce the conclusion. We consider commitment to a juvenile training school to be appropriate. The reasons are…”
When I heard those words, the floor seemed to give way beneath me. I could not keep my balance. Something came out of my mouth. My body would not move properly and I could not even wipe it away.
My life is over.
Well, he may still be mentally unstable, especially after this, despite the medical assessment. Subtle hints may have been ignored that give it away while he was suppressing the more overt symptoms. Frankly, anyone paying attention to how he acted when the police showed up after he and Miyuki left the Love Hotel, how he acted in holding, and his outburst in Court should give it away something is off with him - I mean, he zeroes in on Soccer at damn near every turn, what with being a new star or an ace or whatever, directly points to Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which can lead to a severe mental collapse when things aren't realized, or their ego isn't satisfied. . . we might see that come into play. Who knows.
ReplyDeleteMiyuki shouldn't have apologized to this guy for telling the truth, she should have just glared at him. [sarcasm]It's nice that Kondo deserves an "I'm sorry" for this[/sarcasm], but Eiji just gets "I'll do anything if Eiji will forgive me" garbage. She keeps saying it herself, what she did is unforgivable. Eiji would be good, if not great, if he hammers home the "I don't want to see you again". . . as he's probably going to end up having to sit in on the Miyuki's court hearing, if not, his mother will. . . and his mother will probably learn of his Su*cide Attempt through it. And that'll probably make it even worse for Miyuki, as her mother might have an actual heart attack over how much trash her daughter turned into with how she treated her "friend" of 10 years.
That jerk Kondo isn't unstable; he's just a BULLY with an insufferable ego for being a spoiled brat daddy's boy. But now reality has hit him like a rock, and without the protection or support of anyone, he has to go to the detention center. Something he would have been saved from if he had at least admitted his guilt as everyone warned him. The interesting thing about this is that Kondo won't be alone in the Juvenile Detention Center; most of the football members who lost their futures because of his stupidity actions will go with him, because as soon as they find him, it's possible Kondo won't leave the place alive.
DeleteThe one who could be diagnosed as completely crazy is the BITCH of TACHIBANA, because in her last chapters, it's clear that she's losing her insanity, especially when they tell her things related to Eiji's successes, whom she tried to ruin. She would be capable of killing herself in her cell by accident if she continues with her delusions
That does not mean he isn't mentally unstable. That just means anything that was keeping him balanced are now gone. And if he is mentally stable. . . that won't last long in Juvy, especially, as you noted, there's probably some guys there from his Soccer Club. And there's probably someone bigger, meaner with no problem opting to teach the "New Fish" a lesson in pecking order.
DeleteNow, it's also interesting in this chapter that Eiji, the victim, isn't present at this trial. You'd figure he'd testify to what he knows happened - getting his face beat in by a jackass that his girlfriend was cheating on him with. Though, it may be Japanese law where he doesn't have to testify in court itself, but offer written testimony to be used in his place.
And now Kondo finished.
ReplyDeleteFrom his father. He felt if he had him and money and could've gotten away.
But without his father. He had nothing. No allies. No money. Nothing that could've saved him or stop the testimony from accumulating.
Miyuki testifying him was the final straw. He really thought Miyuki would side with him after their last phone call (about how he never consider her his girlfriend and blame solely on her about Aono). And when she testified against him, he had nothing. Not even his weak defense could do nothing or mental unstableness defense.
It was already obvious to everyone in the court he was aware of his actions and will pull out weak defenses but they weren't having it.
In the end. He destroyed his vision of future of soccer and power.
Not like it was attainable. From what I read. He had talent in soccer but he lacks training and from his personality. It's highly unlikely would've looked at himself and train. Instead he would blame others for his own misfortune.
Hahaha, at this point I couldn't care less about this idiot's fate (and Miyuki's). The one I want to see behind bars is that B*tch Tachibana, because if they don't send her to the correctional facility, they'll send her to the mental asylum, since if they tell her all the protagonist's successes, she might accidentally kill herself in her cell.
ReplyDeleteAs for Miyuki, I AM SO ANGRY THAT THE IDIOT COMES OUT AND SAYS THAT STUPID "I'M SORRY." What does that mean? That she still loves him? That she feels sorry for him? Bullshit.
I imagine Miyuki won't receive any punishment except compensation for Aono's family, although when Miyuki's mother learns more about the matter, she could even suffer a heart attack, even a fatal one. That would be the ultimate punishment for Miyuki, even the worst.
PS: The interesting thing about this is that Kondo won't be alone in the Juvenile Detention Center. It's possible that most of the Football members who lost their futures due to his actions will end up with the jerk. If so, I highly doubt Kondo will make it out of the detention center alive.
Aah I hope the f*cker see someone worse or way worse than him inside that Juvenile facility and make him the b*tch. Miyuki should just join the f*cker.
ReplyDeleteI hope he's sent to that facility along with ALL his dear friends from the soccer club. I can only imagine how HAPPY the will be of spending some quality time with him.
ReplyDeleteWhy did Miyuki say "I'm sorry" and not "Serves you right"? With things like that you can see she's still foolish.
