Chapter 47: The Junior Acts for the Gyaru
The Junior Acts for the Gyaru
After being hit with Urui-san’s honey trap and the gyaru getting picked up by strangers, we ran into problems early on, but everything went smoothly after that and we enjoyed our time at the beach.
“Alright, I think we should probably wrap things up around now.”
Around mid-morning, the handsome guy looked around at how crowded the beach was getting and said that.
I’d wanted to head to a beach hut for lunch, but with this many people, it was probably better to skip that.
When everyone nodded at the handsome guy’s suggestion, we began packing up to leave.
Then, as we were walking from the beach to the nearest station…
“Senpai.”
Taki-san came over to me, walking at the back of the group.
“Did something happen between you and Mia-san while we were playing around?”
“Where’s this coming from all of a sudden?”
“It just felt like you two were acting a bit closer than usual.”
“You think so?”
“Yes. That’s why I wondered if something had happened.”
“…”
Personally, I didn’t feel like anything had changed, but apparently the distance between us looked different from her perspective.
Still, since we’d decided to keep the pickup incident secret so no one would worry, I couldn’t tell her the truth.
“I showed her a one-shot gag, and she liked it.”
“A one-shot gag? Why?”
“We were bored, and Mia randomly asked me to do something.”
It wasn’t a total lie.
Since Mia wandered off alone, I ended up having to rescue her from those guys, and my self-deprecating act was sort of a one-shot performance. Plus…
“Hmm. That does sound like something Mia-san would do.”
“Right?”
“So, what really happened?”
“Huh…?”
How did she know I was lying?
“Please stop hiding it and just tell me.”
“W-Well, that is…”
“Satoshi-cchi saved me when I was getting hit on~”
Just as I was struggling to come up with a reply, Mia, who must have been eavesdropping, casually spilled the truth.
What was all my hard work for?
“Mia-san. Is that true?”
“Yup. It was super funny~”
“It was funny…?”
“Totally. Satoshi-cchi was, you know…”
“Mia-san, stop!”
“Ehh, it’s fine, isn’t it~?”
“Yeah, now I’m curious.”
“No means no!”
That moment was one for the record books in my personal hall of shame.
“Well, if Satoshi-cchi insists, then I guess we’ll pretend it never happened.”
“Ehh…”
“More importantly, what about you, Azusa-chan~?”
“…U-Uh, well…”
“I’m curious too.”
“Senpai, seriously!”
Having successfully changed the subject, I took that chance to get some payback by digging into what had happened between her and the handsome guy.
Apparently, nothing really happened, and she just spent the whole time being nervous.
Honestly, she’s as pure as ever.
And so, now that I understood I still had a part to play in helping with her love life, I brought my first-ever youthful beach trip to a close.
The day after our trip to the beach.
“Alright then, Satoshi, Azusa-chan. Good luck with work!”
“Satoshi-san, I’ll come again sometime!”
With those parting words from Matake-senpai, the two beautiful girls exited the café.
“Hey, Senpai.”
“Hm? What is it?”
As we cleaned up the table after the two left, I asked him a question.
“Which one of those two is the real deal for you?”
“…Huh?”
“‘Huh?’ isn’t an answer!”
At first, I thought they were just rivals competing over Yuito-san, but after watching how the two of them acted around Senpai yesterday and today, I became sure.
Oohina Nagisa and Urui Reina.
As unbelievable as it seems, those two beautiful girls like Senpai.
“They’ve been making their feelings so obvious. How have you not noticed?”
“Well, I mean, I wouldn’t say I haven’t noticed exactly…”
Senpai replied, wearing a vague and hard-to-read expression.
“I already confessed and got rejected. And I’ve also turned them down when they confessed to me…”
“…Huh?”
That made absolutely no sense.
No, knowing Senpai, I could accept that he’d once confessed and been rejected by both of them.
“But you’re saying they confessed and you turned them down? That makes no sense at all.”
I couldn’t believe that this beauty-obsessed Senpai would actually reject a confession from either of them.
“Well, it’s just that… right now, I kind of want a normal high school life, or something like that…”
“Haa?”
“Even if you say ‘Haa?’ what can I say…”
Without saying anything more, Senpai gave me a troubled look and went back to work.
Seriously, what in the world happened while I wasn’t looking?
I still couldn’t believe it, and I definitely wanted to know what really went down, but for now, I’d let it go.
“Hey, Senpai.”
“What is it now?”
“Do you have someone you like right now?”
“Huh…?”
Senpai looked over at me in shock.
“What are you getting all worked up for? It’s not like I’d ever fall for someone like you.”
“…R-Right…”
“So? What’s the answer?”
“…There’s no one.”
I see. So there really isn’t anyone.
“Thank you.”
“Hey, why’d you even ask that in the first place?”
“I’m not telling~!”
I took the dishes from Senpai and hurried off to the dishwashing area.
Just so we’re clear, I really don’t have any feelings for Senpai.
The reason I asked whether he had someone he liked was for Mia-san’s sake.
It’s just a hunch, but I think Mia-san likes Senpai.
The worst part is, Mia-san herself hasn’t even realized it yet. She’s the type who won’t realize she had feelings until someone else takes him away.
I don’t want someone as kind and wonderful as Mia-san to go through something that painful.
And so, now that I know Senpai doesn’t have anyone he likes, I’ve made up my mind to support Mia-san’s love from here on out.
