Chapter 47 The Ruthless Akiko-san
#18ZenkouSeitoThe Ruthless Akiko-san
Nakano left the house.
As the door shut behind him, Irara let out a deep breath.
“Haaa~ That was nerve-wracking…”
“You said it well, Akari! If girls don’t speak up for themselves, they’ll just be taken advantage of! This is the era of women who stand their ground and speak their minds!!”
“Mom…!!”
I completely agreed with Akiko-san’s opinion, but…
Calling him trash and saying she’d rip out his tongue—wasn’t that a bit too much?
I couldn’t even imagine someone as kind-hearted as Irara using such harsh words.
As I watched the two of them bond over this with a wry smile, Irara turned to me with an apologetic look.
“Kyogoku-kun, I’m sorry! You had to see all that…”
“I don’t mind. Actually, it was kind of refreshing. Even if I’d said something, Nakano would’ve just brushed it off like, ‘What’s this guy talking about?’ But when you say it, it actually gets through to him.”
“R-Really…? Ehehe. I just hope Yuya actually understands… Well, I guess it doesn’t really matter if he doesn’t.”
That surprised me.
I thought Irara would hold on, hoping Nakano would change, but it seemed like she’d already given up on him.
Even someone as warm as Irara had reached her limit…
He had the advantage of being her childhood friend, and yet, what a waste.
“Anyway, I think you did great. You should be proud of yourself—like, ‘Yeah, I totally told Nakano off!’ That kind of attitude is just right.”
“Kyogoku-kun…!”
Irara’s eyes sparkled.
Next to us, Akiko-san, who had been listening in, let out a giggle.
“I totally agree with Kyogoku-kun~! That piece of scu— I mean, Yuya-kun really takes advantage of Akari’s kindness. Seriously, what a sc🬀🬀🬀ag~!”
Why even bother correcting yourself if you’re just going to say it anyway?
She just couldn’t hold it in, could she, Akiko-san?
“Ugh, I really hate guys who try to justify their cheating~! They can’t even make one woman happy, yet they think they can handle two? He’s so clueless about his own limits, it’s ridiculous.”
“That’s… quite the pointed remark…”
“Yuya-kun wasn’t always like that, though. He used to be so pure, always loved playing outside… You never know what can change a person, huh?”
She had a point.
Especially for people like us—teenagers still in the process of shaping our personalities.
“But honestly, I don’t care about the past~! Yuya-kun cheated, hurt Akari, and now he’s clinging to her, trying to keep their relationship together… Ufufu, what a pathetic man~!”
“Mom, haven’t you been saying some pretty intense stuff for a while now!?”
“I held back in front of him, but I’ve been bottling up my frustration too~! After hearing all those selfish, trash-like remarks, I think I did a great job holding it in! I chose my words very carefully, you know?”
And yet, “rip out his tongue” still made the cut?
Akiko-san was seriously unfathomable.
She patted Irara’s shoulder.
“Listen, you mustn’t have anything to do with that man anymore.”
We’ve already downgraded him to “that man,” huh?
“And from now on, choose your partners more carefully. I know you’re young, and sometimes emotions can get the best of you, but you have to hold back. Girls are like fragile glass. Once they’re scratched, their beauty fades. Understood?”
“Yeah…! Next time, I’ll be so careful that I’ll only choose someone I’d want to marry!!!”
“Ufufufu~ That might be a bit too cautious, but yes, take your time choosing.”
I agreed with Akiko-san.
I don’t want Irara to get hurt again.
She dated a guy like that and got hurt because of it.
Next time, she should be with someone who could truly make her happy for a lifetime. Someone deserving of her.
If not, then God is unfair.
“And that’s how it is, Kyogoku-kun! Got it!?”
“…Eh?”
“Wha—!? Mom!? Why are you looking at Kyogoku-kun at this timing!?”
“Ufufufu~ Ufufufufufu~…”
“MOM!!!!!!!!!”
Irara grabbed Akiko-san’s shoulders and shook her.
But Akiko-san just kept smiling.
I decided not to think too deeply about it and simply gave a strained smile.
After that, we pulled ourselves together and got back to studying.
However, as time passed, the weather worsened, and strong winds rattled the windows.
Large raindrops pelted the glass like bullets.
“…Maybe I should head home after all.”
“Yeah…”
Irara and I came to that conclusion, packed up our things, and headed downstairs.
But just as we entered the living room to say goodbye to Akiko-san…
[Currently, a heavy rain and storm warning has been issued for the entire XX City area. Those outside should immediately…]
“…Eh.”
“Well… this is quite the situation.”
Akiko-san watched the TV with a worried expression.
No way. When did it get this bad?
“Kyogoku-kun, it looks like going home might be a little difficult.”
“I-It’s fine! It’s not that far, so I should be able to manage…”
“No! What if something the wind carries hits you? And the rain is—hmm, yeah, there’s only one option.”
Akiko-san placed a hand on my shoulder and smiled.
“Stay over tonight!!”
“…Eh. EH!?!?”
