Chapter 6 Running into Nagi After Class

Running into Nagi After Class

The next afternoon.

With all my university lectures finished for the day, I was walking through campus, ready to head straight home, when

“Huh? Isn’t that
?”

I spotted Nagi sitting on a bench, engrossed in a book. Even just sitting there reading, he looked incredibly composed. No wonder the girls called him “Prince Charming.”

“
Hmm? Oh, Taiki. Good work today.”

“Oh? Yeah, good work to you too.”

As I stared at him, Nagi noticed me and waved. I greeted him back and walked over to him.

“Did you finish all your lectures for today too, Nagi?”

“Yeah, I did. Oh, why don’t you take a seat next to me? Standing like that must be tiring, right?”

“Thanks. Well, don’t mind if I do
Phew, today felt like such a long day.”

“Fufu, you look pretty worn out.”

“Yeah, I had to resubmit a report assignment over and over again. It was exhausting
Oh, by the way, what book are you reading, Nagi?”

“This? It’s a mystery novel. It got pretty famous on TV and SNS a while back. Here, take a look.”

With that, Nagi showed me the book cover. The title looked familiar.

“Oh, I’ve seen that title before. It was trending a lot on SNS. Is it as good as people say?”

“Yeah, I’m still in the middle of it, but it’s really good. If you’d like, you can borrow it once I’m done.”

“Eh? Really? I’d love to read it. Would you mind lending it to me when you finish?”

“Of course, I wouldn’t mind at all.”

When I asked, Nagi gave me his usual soft, “prince-like” smile. He really is such a kind guy.

“Thanks. I’m looking forward to it. But, Nagi, you seem to read a lot. Do you really enjoy it that much?”

“Yeah, I do. Back in middle and high school, I was in the literature club. I’ve enjoyed reading ever since.”

“Wait, really? That’s unexpected. You’re tall and seem pretty athletic, so I always thought you were in some kind of sports club.”

“Well, technically, I was in the basketball club too. A friend begged me to join and help out. But whenever I didn’t feel like going to practice, I’d sneak off to the literature club and spend my time quietly reading alone.”

“Haha, so the literature club was your little hideout, huh? Having a spot like that sounds kind of fun.”

“Fufu, it was. Those days were really enjoyable
Oh, by the way, you said you’re done with lectures for today, right? What are your plans now?”

“I was just planning to head straight home. I don’t have anything else to do today.”

“I see. In that case, why don’t we head back together? And maybe stop by the cafĂ© near the station for a relaxing tea break?”

“Huh? Sure, I don’t mind
but weren’t you in the middle of reading?”

“Oh, I was just reading to kill time. Besides
”

“Besides?”

“Since you’re single now and have more time to hang out, I thought it’d be nice to spend some time together today.”

“Haha, what’s with that? You’re so cool.”

Inviting me for tea while being considerate of my feelings after the breakup—he’s incredibly cool. If I were a girl, I’d definitely want to date someone like Nagi.

“Alright, let’s do it. Let’s stop by the cafĂ© near the station before heading home.”

“Fufu, I’m glad you agreed. Let’s head there now.”

“Sounds good.”

And so, we got up from the bench and started walking together, chatting happily as we made our way to the station.
