Chapter 5 He Really Was Such an Idiot (Nanami's Perspective)
He Really Was Such an Idiot (Nanami’s Perspective)
After breaking up with Taiki.
“Haah, that guy really was such an idiot.”
I muttered those words while lying on the living room sofa. The “guy,” of course, was Taiki.
Taiki was my childhood friend, someone I’d been close to since elementary school. I only dated him out of obligation because of that connection. How could he not understand that? He really was so clueless.
Sure, back in middle school, maybe we were a decent match as a couple. But now, I’m a super popular model adored by young fans. There’s no way someone as plain and ordinary as him could ever be a suitable boyfriend for someone like me.
Having such an average guy as my boyfriend was embarrassing. I couldn’t brag about him to my model friends, and I was too mortified to post any couple photos with him on SNS. That was one of the most frustrating things for me.
Still, I put up with him because he was good at housework and somewhat useful to me. But for him to act like we were equals in this relationship? That was laughable. Completely ridiculous!
“Well, whatever. I feel so much better now that I’ve dumped that idiot.”
Sure, we broke up because I cheated, but I don’t feel even a shred of guilt about it.
Honestly, the idea of such an ordinary guy being in a relationship with someone like me—a super popular model—for free was absurd. If he wanted to date me, he should’ve at least been earning a million yen a month.
“Fufu, but now that I’ve gotten rid of that idiot… Maybe I should start dating Kento-kun.”
Kento-kun is a male model I’ve been hanging out with a lot recently. He’s 21, a year older than me, and ridiculously handsome. Always stylish, funny, and kind—he’s practically perfect. Compared to Taiki, it’s like comparing the stars to the mud.
Honestly, looking back, Taiki was so painfully average. He was always bossing me around, and he was such a clueless idiot. I wish he could’ve learned even a little from someone like Kento-kun.
―Ping!
“Hm?”
As I was thinking that, a notification popped up on my phone. I picked it up to check.
—Kento: Are you free this Saturday? If you are, let’s meet up.
To my surprise, it was a message from Kento-kun inviting me out on Saturday. I couldn’t be happier.
—Nanami: I’m totally free! I’d love to see you!
Thrilled, I kicked my legs excitedly and sent him my reply.
―Kento: That’s great. So, as usual, we’ll grab a bite and then head to a love hotel?
―Nanami: Yeah, sounds perfect! Let’s have lots of fun!
―Kento: Got it. This time, let’s aim for five rounds until morning, okay? (lol)
―Nanami: No way, that’s way too much! (lol) But I’m so excited!
And so, Kento-kun and I exchanged messages like that. Our usual routine was to grab a meal and then head to a hotel where he’d shower me with affection.
Actually, I’ve never been on what you’d call a proper date with Kento-kun. He knew I had a boyfriend, and to avoid getting caught, we always kept our meetings discreet and avoided public displays of affection.
Love hotels were perfect because they offered privacy, so we could enjoy ourselves without worrying about being discovered by Taiki.
Well, this time, Taiki did catch us before we even got there… but oh well. Thanks to that, I finally got to break up with him, so it actually worked out for the best.
“Now that I’ve finally broken up with Taiki, I can openly date Kento-kun! I can’t wait to go on proper dates with him and explore so many new places together!”
Overjoyed, I sent Kento-kun a message about it.
―Nanami: Oh, by the way! I have something to tell you on Saturday, so I’ll share it then!
―Kento: Something to tell me? Got it. I’m looking forward to it.
―Nanami: Me too!
Feeling ecstatic, I sent him that message.
Until now, having a boyfriend meant I couldn’t date Kento-kun or go on proper dates.
But now that I’ve broken up with Taiki and I’m finally free, I can start dating Kento-kun without any worries.
“Ahh, being able to date Kento-kun is seriously the best!”
When I was with that painfully average idiot, I couldn’t brag about my boyfriend to my model friends or post couple photos on SNS. It was beyond frustrating.
But now that I’m with Kento-kun, I’ll flood SNS with couple photos and proudly show him off, just like my other model friends do!
