Chapter 11 The Scheming Alcoholic Teacher

The Scheming Alcoholic Teacher

A female teacher grumbled about a lack of a🬀cohol.

Suzaku-sensei teaches all social studies subjects.

For two consecutive years, Suzaku-sensei has been my homeroom teacher—a hardcore lover of a🬀cohol.

With her long, glossy black hair, she gives off the aura of a capable and beautiful career woman… but when you get to know her, she’s extremely disappointing.

“Well, guess I’ll have to settle just for this.”

Suzaku-sensei picked up a large sake bottle from her desk.

“Wait, sensei…?”

No way…

Suzaku-sensei uncapped the bottle, brought it to her lips, and—

“Y-You drank it!!! You're drinking during school hours!!!”

“Pwah! What are you panicking about?”

“No, that’s! B-Because Drinking a🬀cohol at school is against the rules, right?! You’ve been saying you wanted to drink but stopped short of actually doing it, so you’ve been getting away with it. But now… Now you’re just a straight-up drunk teacher! This is a scandal!”

“I mean, yeah, I’m a sake lover, after all.”

“You’re admitting it?!”

“But I follow the rules. This isn’t sake—it’s water.”

“Huh, water? But it’s in a sake bottle…”

“If you put water in a sake bottle and drink it, you can feel a little like you’re drinking sake, right? That’s all it is.”

…What is with this person?

She’s using a sake bottle as a water flask.

At this point, it would’ve been better if it was actually a🬀cohol.

Her level of creativity in this regard is honestly terrifying.

“Anyway, let’s get to the point.”

Oh, right—I was called here for a reason.

I shoved aside the surreal scene and focused on Suzaku-sensei.

Suzaku-sensei pulled out an envelope filled with documents from her desk.

“This is a set of documents that were handed out when Kiriha from our class was absent.”

“Kiriha… Oh, the girl who rarely comes to school?”

“Yeah. You need to deliver these to her urgently. There’s an important report in there that affects her grades. This is a crisis.”

“No way. I’m not doing it.”

I refused immediately, sensing where this conversation was heading.

There’s only one direction this conversation is heading.

“Are you sure about that? This is a suggestion made with your current academic standing in mind, Kyogoku.”

“…Huh?”

…What is it?

I have a bad feeling about this.

Suzaku-sensei has talked me into things countless times before.

She must’ve anticipated my refusal.

Which means…

She already has a plan to force me to comply.

“First, Kyogoku, you’ve been forgetting a lot of homework lately. Second, your quiz scores are so low they’re painful to look at. And third, you’ve slept through class two days in a row.”

“Guh!”

Recently, I’ve been staying up all night playing a new game…

In other words, it’s not my fault. It’s the game’s fault.

But I know full well that excuses won’t work on Suzaku-sensei (they won’t work on anyone else either).

“If you deliver these documents to Kiriha, I’ll forget about all that. Consider it… wiped clean with a🬀cohol.”

“It’s supposed to be water…”

“…”

Actually, did I ever really have a choice in this matter?

—But there’s still one last card I can play.

A trump card only I can use.

“Suzaku-sensei, you know, right? That everyone in the school hates me. Are you sure you want someone like me delivering papers to a student who barely comes to school?”

Sure, my recent academic performance has been terrible, but delivering these papers sounds like an absolute hassle.

I had planned to make up for my failures with future test scores… but…

Suzaku-sensei let out a light laugh and said casually,

“It’ll be fine. Because, Kyogoku, you’re a good guy.”

“…!!!”

Her unexpected response left me speechless.

“I know those rumors are just misunderstandings. And I know you can’t ignore someone in need. That’s why, overall, I think you’re the best choice for this.”

“Uh, well…”

Words like that… No one’s ever said that to me before.

And when someone says something like that to your face, how are you supposed to refuse?

Suzaku-sensei is always ten steps ahead. I can’t win.

“F-Fine! I’ll do it!”

“I knew you’d say that. You and Kiriha are both on the library committee, after all. Use this chance to get along with her.”

“Huh? Why?”

“Because you’re both on the same committee.”

“Wha—?! Kiriha’s… Oh yeah, come to think of it, I’ve always been alone during committee meetings… I just assumed she hated me.”

So she was just absent?

That’s… kind of a relief.

“…Well, maybe she does hate you.”

“Why would you say that?!”

Honestly, if she’d just tone down her eccentricities, she’d be a pretty decent teacher.

“I’m counting on you, Kyogoku.”

Taking the documents from Suzaku-sensei, I sighed deeply as the weight of responsibility settled on my shoulders.

But now that it’s come to this, I have no choice but to go.

No matter how much I protest, the result will be the same.

…This alcoholic teacher really is the worst.

After school.

With the documents in hand, I began walking toward Kiriha’s house, which Suzaku-sensei had given me directions to…

“The weather’s nice today, isn’t it! The temperature’s perfect too!”

“…Why is Irara here too?”

“Eh? Because it’s more fun with two people, right? Yeah, definitely more fun!”

But, honestly, walking after school with a girl as cheerful and beautiful as Irara doesn’t feel bad at all.
