Chapter 23 A Chaotic Date with Two National Idols! Date (1)

A Chaotic Date with Two National Idols! Date (1)

On a day off, the meeting spot had been prearranged as the plaza in front of the station.

Amid the crowd of people bustling about late in the morning on a weekend, I searched for Shirasaki-san and Amane-san.

Knowing them, they were probably disguised to avoid standing out.

After all, they’re celebrities, and if the public recognized them, the situation could spiral into chaos.

As I was scanning the area near the meeting spot, someone called out to me from the side.

“Hey there, Amagi-kun.”

“Amane-san, hello.”

“Do you think my disguise works?”

When she asked, I stared intently at Amane-san.

Her outfit was effortlessly stylish.

She wore a simple black leather jacket over a white dress, paired with black sneakers. Her casual ponytail gave her an approachable vibe. Her face was concealed by a simple mask that complemented her outfit, but her expressive eyes unmistakably reminded me of Amane-san.

“Uh, your aura might not be completely hidden…”

“Really? If we get recognized, sorry in advance.”

If fans misunderstood the situation, it could lead to backlash.

While I was lost in thought, a familiar voice reached me.

“Sorry, did I keep you waiting?”

Shirasaki-san came into view.

She wore a brown beret, her silver hair cascading beneath it. She had on a chic off-white knit top paired with a striped skirt. Perhaps as part of her disguise, she also wore glasses.

“Shirasaki-san in glasses is a fresh look.”

“Kanade-chan is so cute!”

“Enough with the flattery. Let’s just go.”

Possibly to hide her embarrassment, Shirasaki-san averted her gaze and walked briskly ahead.

Amane-san and I followed after her—

Our first stop was a movie theater.

In the lobby, ticket vending machines, merchandise displays, and food stalls came into view.

Families and couples were scattered about, creating a lively atmosphere.

Announcements promoting movies and screening schedules played repeatedly over the speakers.

A nearby monitor displayed movie titles, genres, and screening times.

We’d come all this way, but what should we watch?

“What movie should we watch?”

As if sharing my thoughts, Shirasaki-san asked.

“I’m fine with anything.”

I didn’t even know what was playing—I was that out of the loop.

It seemed better to let someone else decide.

“Then I’d like to see this trending romance movie.”

Shirasaki-san said, picking up a movie pamphlet.

On it was written: I Want to Share My Last Love With You.

“Kanade-chan, you like this kind of thing? Feeling starved for love?”

“I’m not starved! As an idol, I often sing love songs, so I thought I’d study romance through this. Amane-chan, maybe you should watch it too—you said you’ve never had a boyfriend.”

“Wait, really?”

I was caught off guard by this unexpected information.

Amane-san had never had a boyfriend.

She’s an idol, but it was surprising that she hadn’t dated.

It’s hard to imagine anyone not pursuing her—unless her standards were sky-high.

“Amagi-kun, you seem surprised. Are you happy, by any chance?”

“No, just… surprised.”

After that little exchange, we decided on the romance movie Shirasaki-san suggested—

Before the movie started, we bought popcorn and drinks and entered the screening room. When I sat down, I realized I was seated between Shirasaki-san and Amane-san.

Why am I in the middle…?

Could it be that the two of them don’t get along?

No, that didn’t make sense. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t have gone out together on their day off.

As the lights dimmed and the movie announcements began, I became aware of the faint scents of Shirasaki-san and Amane-san from both sides.

I tried to focus on the movie, but I couldn’t ignore their presence.

The sweet scent of Shirasaki-san mixed with the refreshing scent of Amane-san, creating a pleasant but unsettling effect.

“Hey, Amagi-kun.”

“Y-yes?”

Amane-san, seated to my right, called out to me, making me respond awkwardly.

“Open your mouth.”

Following her instructions, I opened my mouth.

“Here.”

Amane-san picked up a piece of popcorn and brought it to my mouth. I was surprised by her sudden gesture but accepted the popcorn.

“Fufu, so cute.”

What is this? I’m so embarrassed…

As I turned back to the screen, I felt a negative aura emanating from Shirasaki-san on my left.

I-it must be my imagination…

Ignoring it, I focused on the movie, which soon began.

The movie was a straightforward romance.

It was about a high school boy falling for a girl who suddenly entered his life, but I couldn’t pay attention.

The reason was…

As the movie reached its climax, Shirasaki-san, sitting next to me, gently held my hand. The moment her hand touched mine, my heart raced.

Her hand was soft and slightly cold.

I wondered if it was accidental and glanced at her.

But Shirasaki-san said nothing, simply holding my hand.

The screen’s light illuminated her face, and she looked completely composed. Meanwhile, I was too flustered to react.

As the movie’s climax played out, all I could think about was Shirasaki-san’s hand in mine, my heart pounding.

In the end, I couldn’t say anything and just kept watching. As the movie grew more intense, so did my awareness of our joined hands.

Honestly, I barely registered how the movie ended—

After the movie, back in the lobby, I couldn’t hold back my curiosity. I had to ask why Shirasaki-san held my hand.

“Shirasaki-san, during the movie, you held my hand, right? Why?”

I asked quietly. She looked puzzled for a moment before tilting her head.

“Huh? Held your hand? I didn’t do anything like that.”

Her response was as if she genuinely didn’t remember.

I was completely confused. I clearly remembered her holding my hand—the warmth, the pressure.

As I was mulling it over, she added,

“Sorry, sorry. Just kidding.”

“Then why…?”

When I asked, she leaned in and whispered,

“Because I just felt like touching it.”

Huh? That’s all?

What does she mean by “felt like touching it”?

As I tried to ask more, Shirasaki-san had already moved ahead, called over by Amane-san.

In the end, I got my answer, but it only deepened the mystery.
