Chapter 5 The Instructor, Reunited

The Instructor, Reunited

I arrived safely at the entrance of Rikehana ćƒŖć‚±ćƒćƒŠ, the northern country.

This is the second time Iā€™ve used [Fast Travel] successfullyā€¦.

Itā€™s still scary, even though I know whatā€™s going to happen.

Of course, the reason I was able to come to this distant Rikehana is because I have been here before.

Actually, it would be more accurate to say that I was teleported here.

While investigating a magical civilization ruin, a party member made a mistake and activated a teleportation trap.

We were all teleported to different places, but for some reason, I was sent to a ruin near the Rikehana.

How was I doing after the teleportation accident?

Well, I wonā€™t go into details because it would take too long, but I managed to get back safely by other means.

Iā€™ll tell you about it someday.

The guards guarding the gate of Rikehana were incredibly suspicious of a man with an unfamiliar hair color who suddenly appeared, but I was able to resolve the issue through [Negotiation].

Everyone was happy and smiling at the happy ending.

It was a relief that I hadnā€™t forgotten the language I had desperately learned when I came here before.

I was afraid that languages I didnā€™t use would quickly become rusty.

I seem to have no problem with everyday conversation. Being able to speak the language makes a huge difference in how difficult it is to live hereā€¦.

And this timeā€¦ I have gems to exchange for money, so itā€™s easy mode.

Last time I had no money, I didnā€™t speak the language, and I had no idea where I was! It was a mess.

Money and information are very important.

I took a break in an inn I managed to find and made plans for the future.

First, I need to register with the Adventurersā€™ Guild here.

This would be easy if my old registration file still existed.

In order to fit in as quickly as possible, Iā€™ll take on small requests, regardless of the pay, and gradually build up trust.

I am very good at this kind of steady work.

Since itā€™s a method that has worked before, I know how to do it.

Even if Iā€™m in the red at first, I should be able to recover soon.

There may be that person I was once indebted to at the Adventurersā€™ Guild, so I definitely want to say hello.

With this plan in mind, I fell asleep as if I had been knocked out.

Using Skill Overload is really tiringā€¦

Good nightā€¦ Zzzā€¦

I didnā€™t dream.

But I felt like I saw the starry sky from that day.

The next day, I knocked on the door of the Adventurersā€™ Guild.

It hasnā€™t changed much since thenā€¦.

Thereā€™s a map of the area on the wall.

Has the inhabitable area grown since then?

The land of Rikehana is vast, but most of it is occupied by the Demon Forest, a nest of monsters.

Because of this, the guild is very active, and adventurers can be found there even in the wee hours of the morning.

Skilled adventurers flock here to expand the area where humans can live.

Anyway, I came here because I wanted to go far away, and it turned out to be a good decision.

As I was casually looking at the bulletin board where the permanent requests were posted, I was suddenly called out from behind.

ā€œYouā€¦ Veissā€¦?ā€

When I turned around, I saw a bald old man with a very large build.

ā€œOld man Mostur ćƒ¢ć‚¹ćƒˆćƒ«?!ā€

There was my benefactor who taught me a lot when I was a strange foreigner who didnā€™t understand the language and had no money.

ā€œYou disappeared without saying anything! I was so worried about you!ā€

He patted my back happily.

Before, I would have staggered from the impact, but now Iā€™m fine.

ā€œOh, youā€™ve gotten stronger since then! Impressive, impressive!ā€

ā€œWell, I canā€™t stay a kid forever.ā€

ā€œYouā€™re still a child to me though, hahaha!ā€

He laughed heartily.

Ah, he hasnā€™t changed at all.

Old Mostur was also from the Anafiha Kingdom, just like me, and he couldnā€™t bear to see me, a fellow countryman, struggling.

Heā€™s a bit rough and careless, but I think heā€™s a really good person.

My heart warmed for the first time in a long time.

ā€œAre you going to stay here for a while?ā€

ā€œYes, I plan to stay here for a while.ā€

ā€œThen come visit Meiria ćƒ”ć‚¤ćƒŖć‚¢ later! She was really depressed when you left.ā€

ā€œAhā€¦ā€

Meiria-san is Old Man Mosturā€™s granddaughter, a caring and very sweet girl.

Sheā€™s also my language teacher here.

Like Old Mostur, I was very grateful to her.

When I went back to my country, I was so busy that I couldnā€™t say goodbye to her, and I was sorry.

Several years have passed since then, and she must have become a wonderful lady.

ā€œYes, Iā€™ll make time to visit her properly next time.ā€

ā€œThereā€™s no need to be so formalā€¦ā€

He stroked his bald head affectionately.

ā€œSo, what are you doing here?ā€

ā€œWell, this is my first time back in this guild in a long time, so if my registration record is still here, I thought I might as well make a somewhat tedious request as a greetingā€¦.ā€

I am implicitly asking for a job.

ā€œOh?ā€

Old Mosturā€™s eyes light up.

I may have messed up.

ā€œThere should be something left. Meiria went crazy; she said youā€™d never die! Youā€™re pretty good in a fight, arenā€™t you? Thereā€™s a good request for youā€¦ Youā€™ll take it, wonā€™t you?ā€

Of course, all I can say is ā€˜yesā€™.
