Chapter 16 Evidence Confirmation
#Ore ni Tsumetai TsumaEvidence Confirmation
Divorce.
When I heard that from Hana-chan, I closed my eyes and thought about it.
If I had been in the same situation a short time ago, I would have freaked out at the thought of divorce. After all, I loved Rina.
But now my feelings are completely different.
āDivorce, huh⦠I should consider it.ā
As if those words came out of my mouth naturally, my heart was unexpectedly calm.
Hana-chanās eyes widened at my words.
āIām surprised⦠I thought my brother-in-law would look worried and hesitate.ā
āWell, yeah⦠If it was me before, maybe.ā
āSo you donāt love Nee-san anymore?ā
āWell, thatās how it is.ā
The feeling that I loved Rina was completely gone from my heart now.
I guess thatās why I can ignore Rina.
Hearing my answer, Hana-chan turned to me with a bright smile.
āYes, yes, thatās right! Then letās prepare for the divorce quickly!ā
āYes, letās do that.ā
I wonder? Hana-chan is in a pretty good mood.
Is she that happy about my divorce from Rina?
Sheās pretty weird.
āSo, letās start by looking at the evidence we have. First, thereās the audio recording of Nee-san yelling at my brother-in-law. Can I listen to it?ā
āOh, okay.ā
Nodding, I took my smartphone out of my pocket and played the recorded audio.
Hana-chan made a bitter face at the content as if she had eaten a bitter bug.
āWhat is thisā¦? Forcing my brother-in-law to do all the housework. Youāre too selfish, Nee-san. Do you think youāre a princess?ā
āYes, I think so too. She must really mean it to say things like that.ā
I laugh in confusion, but itās not really a laughing matter.
Itās probably because now Iām thinking about it like itās someone elseās business.
āBut this alone is not enough evidence. It looks like emotional abuse, but the divorce mediation committee will probably decide that you can work things out.ā
āHmm⦠That may be true.ā
Divorce mediators are people who prioritize discussion between couples and mediate.
Because they make judgments based on the opinions of both parties, they may mistakenly think that Rina is just exaggerating.
After all, my evidence is only a day or two of audio data.
While I was wondering what to do, Hana-chan spoke hesitantly, watching my expression.
āUm⦠Brother-in-law, I also have evidenceā¦.ā
āEh? Really?ā
āYes, I think if we have this, you can definitely get a divorceā¦.ā
āWhen did you⦠No. If Hana-chan guarantees it, itās definitely reliable. Can you show it to me?ā
āAh, yes⦠That⦠But I think my brother-in-law might be sad because the content is too harshā¦.ā
Hana-chan looked down apologetically.
This girl is really the opposite of Rina.
Sheās a nice girl who puts other peopleās feelings first and cares about them. Itās really good that sheās on my side.
But in order to get a divorce, I, as the party involved, have to hear her out, and I have both the obligation and the right to do so.
I laughed softly and stroked Hana-chanās head.
āEh, brother-in-lawā¦!?ā
Hana-chanās face was flushed, and her eyes were wide open. Sheās kind of cute.
āThank you, Hana-chan. You were worried about me, right? Iām really glad you felt that way. But Iām okay. Iām not afraid of what Rina says anymore.ā
āR-Reallyā¦?ā
āYeah, so show me.ā
āO-Okay, I get it. Um, could you please let go of your hand?ā
āAh⦠Iām sorry.ā
āNo, itās okayā¦ā
I had been stroking Hana-chanās head for so long because it felt so good.
I grew so fond of her that I felt like she was my real sister. I think I got a little too comfortable. I should be more careful.
Hana-chan took a deep breath to calm herself and put her smartphone down on the table.
āS-So then⦠Iāll show you the evidence I have.ā
āYes, please.ā
āFirst, a conversation I had with Nee-san.ā
When she played it back, it was even worse than I thought. I couldnāt believe how horrible it was.
And I was more surprised by phrases like āuseless husbandā and āATMā and the fact that she had dedicated her love to her senior.
But strangely, I wasnāt that hurt.
If I had been before, I might have been heartbroken and even contemplated suš¬š¬ide. Whatās wrong with me now?
āI think itās clear that she no longer loves my brother-in-law. I also took pictures of Nee-san cheating, so that would be advantageousā¦.ā
āI understand; itās clear that this divorce will be the wifeās fault.ā
This is clearly emotional abuse and infidelity.
Even if she hasnāt crossed the line, Rinaās feelings have completely drifted away from me, and she is devoting her love to her senior.
This is perfect infidelity. I might even get alimony.
āThatās⦠brother-in-law, are you okay?ā
āHuhā¦?ā
When I realized it, Hana-chan was looking at my face with a worried expression.
I canāt let my sister-in-law see me like this.
āYes, Iām fine. Thank you, Hana-chan. We can get a divorce now.ā
āI-If thatās the case, thatās good.ā
Smiling, Hana-chan returned a reassuring smile. Sheās such a good girl. I canāt forgive Rina for saying such bad things about her. I have to make up my mind too.
āThen I have to take this to a lawyer.ā
I was about to search for a good law firm on my smartphone whenā
āThen⦠why donāt you let me do that?ā
I heard a familiar voice. I turned around, and there was Mishi-san in her casual clothes.
