The Same Smell

During the break at school, the usual scene unfolded. A group of close friends, Haruki, Mizuki, and Manami, gathered at Sou’s place.

Sou sat in his seat as usual while Haruki, Mizuki, and Manami stood next to him.

“By the way, it’s unusual for Harucchi to be late. Isn’t this the first time since you enrolled in this school, right?”

Manami asks Haruki with a curious look on her face.

“Ah, yes. I overslept a bit.”

Unable to look Manami in the face, Haruki gives a vague answer. We can clearly see that she is nervous.

“Hmm? That doesn’t seem like Haruki-chan. …Something’s fishy!”

Sensing that something is off with Haruki’s behavior, Mizuki frowns suspiciously.

“And!! I’ve been wondering about something for a while now!!!”

Raising her voice and leaving some of her usual calm tones behind, Mizuki approaches Haruki.

“Sniff. Sniff.”

Suddenly, Mizuki starts to sniff around Sou and Haruki, searching for the scent emanating from them.

“I knew it; this smells…” Then Mizuki noticed the same smell coming from Sou and Haruki.

“Now that I think about it, you both have the same smell. Why? Manami is curious.”

Manami also asks curiously.

“Eh… Ugh? That’s? It’s a coincidence. Right? Hey, Sou.”

Overwhelmed by the pressure from Mizuki and Manami, Haruki calls to Sou as if to ask for help.

“Y-yes. That’s right. It’s a coincidence!!”

Hesitating to talk about the events of this morning, Sou quickly decides to go along with Haruki’s story. He could not tell them that they took a bath together.

“I think it’s obviously strange that the same smell comes from both of your bodies if by chance. And it is absolutely impossible for a man and a woman to smell the same. And… I know! Sou was late today as well, along with Haruki.”

“I think Manami agrees with Mizucchi.”

Mizuki and Manami refuse to listen to the stories of Sou and Haruki. Their suspicion grows.

“I-I get it!! I get it!!! I just have to be honest! If I tell you!!! Will that satisfy you both?”

Under pressure from Mizuki and Manami, Haruki gives in.

“Eh! Yakumo-san!! Is that okay?”

“It can’t be helped! These guys will never be satisfied unless we tell them the truth! By the way, I have no problem telling them. But… what about Sou?”

For some reason, both of her cheeks turn red, and Haruki tries to confirm this while looking away from Sou.

“Sigh.”

Unable to cope with Haruki’s sudden and incomprehensible expression, Sou gives an awkward answer.

“What is this? It’s weird. Don’t you think so, Manami-chan?”

“I think so. It seems like they’ve created their own world just for the two of them.”

Mizuki and Manami both express their dissatisfaction.

“Can we start talking now? The same smell is coming from me and Sou—”

After explaining the events of this morning, Haruki confesses that she took a bath with Sou. She also explains that they spent time together in the bathroom and used the same shampoo and body wash.

““!?””

Then Mizuki and Manami’s expressions changed completely.

“Heh~ Bathing together, huh? Heh~ Sou-kun. Heh~ You enjoyed such a dirty thing with Haruki~ Heh~ I see~ I see~”

Where is her usual gentle and kind aura? Mizuki has a creepy smile on her face, not smiling at all, and she just stares at Sou while she talks monotonously.

“Eh? That’s. That’s. Is that something dirty?”

Unable to find the right words, Sou makes a decision that clearly adds fuel to the fire.

“I can’t believe it! I’m so jealous of Haruki-chan! I want to take a bath with Sou-kun too! I want to use the same shampoo and body wash!”

Like a child in his childhood, Mizuki shamelessly reveals his feelings of jealousy.

“I can’t believe it. Harucchi. Manami can’t lose either. I wonder if there’s anything else you enjoyed with Amanecchi besides the bath….”

Meanwhile, Manami, in contrast to Mizuki, is secretly burning with rivalry against Haruki. She seems to be planning a strategy.

From then on, things don’t calm down as usual until the end of the break.
