Chapter 2 My Wife's Younger Sister Appeared
#Ore ni Tsumetai TsumaMy Wife’s Younger Sister Appeared
“Hana…chan?”
The person on the screen was someone I hadn’t expected.
With wavy brown hair tied in a side ponytail and captivating, kind eyes, she looked like an idol at first glance.
With her perfectly proportioned features, she waved at me through the screen.
“Wait, I’ll open the door.”
As soon as I opened the front door, the girl smiled brightly as if a flower had bloomed.
“Long time no see, brother-in-law.”
“Oh yeah… Long time no see, Hana-chan. But why are you here?”
“I was playing with my friends and passed by here, so I thought I’d drop by.”
Kuroda Hana (黒田花菜).
She’s my wife, Rina’s younger sister, and she’s a third-year university student now.
The last time I saw her was at our wedding.
Since Rina doesn’t visit her hometown, I never had a chance to go there, so I only saw her a few times in person.
I didn’t understand why she came to my house, but I couldn’t turn her away.
“Since we’re standing here, why don’t you come in?”
“Yes, thank you.”
Even though it was late at night, Hana-chan’s cheerful voice seemed to brighten my depressed mood.
I led her into the living room and let her sit on a chair, then opened the refrigerator to get some tea.
“Sorry, is bottled tea okay?”
“Please don’t worry. I came suddenly.”
“I don’t know. We have jasmine tea and milk tea, which would you like?”
“I’ll have the jasmine tea, please.”
I replied, “Okay,” and took out a bottle of jasmine tea and poured it into a cup.
I also took out the cake I was going to give Rina and put it on a tray.
Since Rina probably won’t eat it, and the cake will go bad after a day, it would be better for someone else to eat it than to let it spoil.
“Here, I don’t have much…sorry.”
“Wow, it’s cake. And isn’t it from that popular shop near the station?”
“Oh yeah…you know it well?”
“Of course! I heard you have to make a reservation to eat there.”
I see, that’s how it is.
Since I made reservations every year for birthdays and anniversaries, I didn’t know it was so popular.
While I was admiring her and thinking, “As expected from a girl,” Hana-chan said, “Wait a minute?” as if she just thought of something.
“But you didn’t know I was coming today, right? Why is there cake prepared?”
“Ah…well, that….”
It was a natural question. I couldn’t answer right away, and Hana-chan said as if she remembered something.
“Come to think of it, today was my brother-in-law’s wedding anniversary to Nee-san, wasn’t it? Where is Nee-san? It’s a little early to go to bed… Is she working?”
“Ugh….”
Oh no, what can I say?
As I panicked and struggled to find an answer, Hana-chan’s expression seemed to change.
It looked like she was angry.
“Brother-in-law, please tell me honestly. Where’s Nee-san?”
“Uh, um….”
I hesitated here.
If I told her the truth, Hana-chan would probably tell my in-laws.
If that happened, Rina would inevitably find out.
Knowing Rina, she would definitely lash out at me for snitching my in-laws.
Considering that, I couldn’t tell her.
However, my hesitation could be seen on my face, and Hana-chan looked at me suspiciously.
“Did something happen between brother-in-law and Nee-san?”
“Ugh….”
“I knew something happened, didn’t you?”
I was at a loss for words, unable to deceive her.
Hana-chan pointed the fork she was holding at me, her eyes looking scary.
“Hey, that’s dangerous!”
“Tell me. If you don’t, I won’t be satisfied. Or should I ask Nee-san directly?”
“That would….”
“Well, I’d rather hear it from you….”
Due to her semi-threatening interrogation, I realized that I had only one choice.
Even if I didn’t explain, Rina could tell her the story.
I wasn’t sure if Rina would tell the truth, but would I be able to fool this scary-looking Hana-chan?
“By the way, lies don’t work on me.”
“Ugh….”
I was stunned, and my words stuck in my throat.
My intentions seemed to have no effect on Hana-chan.
“Sigh…Okay, I understand.”
Defeated, I took a deep breath and told Hana-chan everything that had happened.
