Chapter 9 Fifth-period Class

Fifth-period Class

The fifth period class was mathematics.

Sou was not good at scientific subjects. In particular, he was not good at calculating numbers. So the fifth period was a chore.

Besides, he ate lunch; his stomach was full, so he felt sleepy. His lethargy was more intense than usual during the fifth period.

As if to escape reality, he took his eyes off the blackboard and looked out the window.

The math teacher ignored Sou’s feelings and continued to write on the blackboard in parallel with his oral explanation. The sound of making letters with chalk can be heard in the classroom.

The sound he usually hears at school caresses his eardrums as usual. The sounds were not unpleasant but rather pleasant.

But it was limited to sounds. The content of the lesson was just painful.

He shifted his attention to the window and met Seira’s eyes. Seira is sitting on the back seat next to the window. As a student, this is probably the best position that most people would envy.

It’s warm and sunny, and the podium is far away. This makes it a good place to fall asleep.

With a slight smile, Seira waves modestly. She moves her hand to Sou so the teacher won’t notice.

(What is wrong with her? She still pretends to be a girlfriend. Even though she cheated on me.)

Sou feels a lot of anger at Seira’s same attitude as before. There is no sadness or melancholy. These emotions are gone. Now there is only anger.

(Even though you have me as a boyfriend, you switched to a good-looking guy. And yet you still want to continue our relationship as a couple. What a joke! How dare you underestimate me! Do you really think I don’t know? I already know.)

He is in the middle of class, but he has the urge to scream and even wants to scratch his hair.

The words want to come out of his mouth.

With his mind at its limit, he somehow managed to shut his mouth. He presses his lips together and forces them together.

He holds the angry words inside his body. So as not to vomit out of his body.

(No, no. If I let out my anger now, the teacher and my classmates will think I’m insane.)

He shakes his head vigorously to clear the distracting thoughts from his mind.

Reading the mood, he waits for the moment when the teacher turns his attention to the board and then waves back.

Perhaps she feels a sense of crisis in her own way. Seira winks at Sou to show her appreciation. Maybe it’s a reward for the wave.

Until a few days ago, seeing her wink might have excited him. It might even have made him feel a thrill or excitement.

But it was already too late.

To Sou, Seira’s wink looked like filth. He didn’t find it very attractive.

Recognizing it as filth, a feeling of discomfort welled up in his heart. It grew stronger with time, like boiling water.

The emotion that dominated his heart changed from anger to discomfort.

When Seira came into view, he unconsciously felt an unpleasant wink.

To avoid the discomfort, he looked away from Seira.

His actions paid off, and the discomfort subsided. Gradually, he felt better.

Seira, on the other hand, tilted her head in surprise. She probably had doubts about Sou’s behavior. Surely, from the perspective of others, it was an incomprehensible behavior.

Without noticing Seira’s change, Sou turned his eyes to the blackboard. He’s not thrilled with the lesson.

But it’s still better than recognizing Seira’s face and feeling discomfort.

A few seconds after staring at the blackboard, a certain word comes to Sou’s mind, as if an idea suddenly popped into his head.

(I advise that you break up with that shitty #1. Whether you do it or not is up to Amane. Only Amane has the power to decide.)
