Chapter 214 Miyuki's Interrogation

Miyuki’s Interrogation

A Policeman’s (Domoto’s Father) PoV

In parallel with the interrogation of Kondo’s son, the interrogation of the other people involved is also progressing.

In particular, starting with the bullying issue, the members of the soccer club have committed many crimes, including attempted assault, theft, and damage to property. As a result, the police station has become hectic.

Juvenile cases are sensitive, so a careful investigation is required.

And we have identified Kondo and Tachibana, the manager of the literature club, as the masterminds. It seems that they persuaded the other club members to commit the crime. Gradually, the perpetrators succumbed to interrogation and revealed the truth.

By now, the investigation had reached its conclusion, and it was time to interrogate the student who had actually started the whole problem.

“Thank you for coming today, Amada-san.”

Although she and Kondo were the initiators of the whole problem, it is unclear how she was directly involved in the bullying of Eiji Aono and her involvement with the group that bullied him. She has become a mysterious figure.

So we want to clarify that part of the story. That is the purpose of this interrogation.

For now, the police are not detaining her.

This is because, unlike Kondo, she didn’t try to escape, nor did she try to hide evidence. She quietly gave her phone data to the police, and she didn’t cooperate with the soccer club members to silence anyone.

That’s why it’s strange. If it weren’t for her, the incident wouldn’t have happened, but for some reason, she even seems to be distancing herself from the other members of the club.

“Yes. What can I tell you about today?”

At her home, an investigator asks her about the general idea. What she was most involved in was the defamation of Aono Eiji in real life and online.

“Yes. Sorry to keep asking, but can you tell me in your own words how you got involved in this case?”

Amada Miyuki. She doesn’t look like the kind of student who would be in a delinquent group. The teachers also testified that she was a very serious and good student before this incident. The investigator who spoke to her earlier also gave the impression that she “started hanging out with bad boys, betrayed her childhood friend, couldn’t back out, and got involved in the incident”.

“Yes.”

She seemed to struggle with what to say.

I deliberately asked questions and pointed out specific areas I wanted her to talk about.

“You were childhood friends with Aono Eiji, who was the target of the bullying. Were you lovers?”

“Yes.”

“Did you have any problems with your love life after that? The other students said it all started when Amada-san and Aono-kun broke up entanglement….”

She looked very upset. To be honest, the testimonies here vary from person to person. People close to Kondo—most of them—said there were love problems. But Aono Eiji and those close to him deny it.

Aono-kun is the person involved, but when it comes to objective testimony, it would be better if his testimony matched Amada-san’s. However, if the case started with a romantic entanglement, it is only natural that the two sides would have different stories to tell. Besides, even if there was no trouble, it would be more extenuating to testify that it was for her own protection.

If you’re a high school student, you’ll probably be able to account for that much profit and loss.

In other words, there is a high probability that Amada Miyuki will testify that “there was some romantic trouble”. After that, we’ll have to ask her about the nature of the trouble and confirm her credibility… It’ll be a long battle.

I was prepared for it, but she may have been prepared for it too.

Then she begins to let it out little by little.

“First of all, I never told Eiji about the breakup. Eiji never told me anything like that either.”

I froze at this unexpected statement. I froze for a moment because I never thought that she would testify against herself.

“What does that mean? So how did the bullying of Aono-kun start?”

“I betrayed him. Even though I was dating Eiji, I cheated on him with Kondo-san.”

She begins to tell the truth as if in a delirium.

“I see, then?”

“I didn’t want to be the bad one at school. Kondo-san was also up for a sports recommendation. So, I wanted to prevent bad words from spreading… so I betrayed Eiji.”

She collapsed on the desk as if sobbing silently.

I waited for her to calm down a bit, then confirmed.

“You betrayed him… What did you do?”

“Y-yes. I lied… about being violated by Eiji… and then… bruised my arm with Kondo-san and took a picture of it….”

“Then….”

“Kondo-san used SNS to spread it. I turned a blind eye, and even though the rumor spread throughout the school, I didn’t deny it to protect myself.”

Seeing her tattered state, two feelings were born.

Horror at the fact that she had driven her lover to the brink of s🬀🬀cide out of a shallow desire to protect her own reputation and that the rumor had ruined many people’s lives.

And it is a pity that she couldn’t have testified earlier.

But I cannot let this end this way. The victim’s family has filed a lawsuit against her for defamation. Although I feel depressed, I continue to work. I imagine the difficult future that awaits the girl in front of me….
