Chapter 12 Report

Report

Sou walks down the stairs from the rooftop to the entrance.

A sense of accomplishment fills his heart. He can finally say goodbye to Seira. The twisted, shaky feeling that clogged his heart is now gone, and he feels at ease.

There is an empty space where it used to be, and he feels a sense of clarity.

Without showing it on the outside, he feels excited inside as he changes from his school slippers to his regular shoes. His regular shoes are sneakers. They are mostly white.

“You look like you’ve accomplished something.”

The tone of voice that he has been hearing a lot lately reaches Sou’s eardrums. Based on his previous experience, his eardrums immediately identify the owner of the voice.

Sou recognizes the source of the voice by its volume and turns his gaze forward. He shifts his gaze from his sneakers to the front.

A beautiful girl with long silver hair stands in front of him. She stands with her hands in the pockets of her blazer, her posture perfect. It is Yakumo Haruki. As usual, her dignified demeanor is still intact.

“How did you know?”

Sou asks a frank question. Halfway through turning his attention to Haruki, he also starts to put his shoes on completely.

He touches the toe of the shoe to the ground several times to make it fit his foot. After two or three touches, the shoe fits Sou’s foot perfectly.

The discomfort he felt before was completely gone. Walking became much easier.

“Why? Because it’s written on Amane’s face.”

With a slight smile, Haruki points to Sou’s face. She makes a face as if she can see through everything.

Haruki’s index finger touches Sou’s face.

Suddenly, a finger was pointed at him, and Sou was startled. His heart jumped a little.

“It seems like Yakumo-san knows everything. But just in case, I’ll tell you from my own mouth. I broke up with Ito Seira. So Ito-san is no longer my girlfriend.”

As if he wanted to finish the conversation, Sou told Haruki the report fluently.

“Really. Amane had made his own decision. Ah, I see, I see. Looks like it took less time than I thought.”

“Yes. I was able to make the decision to break up thanks to Yakumo-san’s advice. If you hadn’t said that, I think I’d still be in a relationship with Ito-san.”

He confessed his true feelings. It was a sincere feeling.

Haruki’s advice was a big push. There’s no doubt that it was the catalyst that made him break up.

“I see. But it was Amane who did it. I only lent a little strength. I didn’t help much.”

Haruki replies in a tone that is not humble but simply stating a fact. There is no pretense of lying.

“But it is not over yet.”

“Eh? Did you say something?”

“No, nothing. I was just talking to myself. Don’t mind it.”

Haruki whispered to herself. Sou couldn’t hear it. All he could feel was that she had said something.

However, he felt that she had a vaguely scheming look on her face for a moment. He also felt that she was smiling, as if she was enjoying herself or was happy.

“I’m glad to hear your report. Thank you for taking the trouble to tell me. I have some personal business to attend to. I’m going to leave now. See you later!”

Without waiting for Sou’s answer, Haruki changes from her shoes to her school slippers at the entrance. She easily passes Sou and steps into the hallway opposite the entrance.

“Y-yes. See you later.”

It’s strange that Haruki changed into her slippers even though it’s after school.

Did she forget something? Or did a teacher call her? But she had said that she had to take care of some personal things. Naturally, a call from a teacher was out of the question.

Sou has no idea what her personal business is. He stares blankly at Haruki’s back.

Meanwhile, Haruki’s back gets further and further away from Sou until it disappears completely when she climbs the next stairs. She went upstairs.
