“Break up? With me? Why?”

With a desperate look on her face, Seira asks several questions. She is obviously upset.

“Because we have a reason to break up. That’s all.”

Sou answers calmly. Still expressionless.

“Reason to break up? I don’t understand! Are you unhappy with me?”

Seira shows a doubtful expression. Her eyebrows are furrowed, and a grimace is forming. She probably didn’t like what Sou said.

In the past, Sou had always been very considerate; he would put on a fake smile when there was a problem and try to hide it. Just so as not to upset Seira.

Seira was Sou’s first girlfriend. Until then, he had been very careful not to be disliked. He remembers that he tried very hard not to be disliked by her.

But now it doesn’t matter. It no longer matters. His love for Seira was completely gone. His feelings for her had grown apart.

“This is because Seira is cheating on me.”

As if to add insult to injury, Sou tells her the reason for their breakup. While keeping his eyes on Seira.

“What?! Cheating!! Wh, what is that?! This is a joke, right? I would never do such a thing!!!”

Seira gets even more agitated. She averts her gaze, which had been directed at Sou just moments ago. Her eyes also move from side to side. This is the proof that she was lying.

The saying that eyes speak louder than words is true. This is especially true for Seira right now.

“I have proof of this.”

Half amused by Seira’s lie, he takes his smartphone out of his uniform pants.

He unlocks the lock screen, which hasn’t changed since he bought the phone, and uses his fingers to open the album gallery.

He taps the most recently saved photo. The desired photo fills the phone’s screen.

“This is the proof. Cheating or worse….”

Sou stretches out his right hand, holding the phone as if to show off the screen.

The phone screen reflects a photo taken at the best time and angle of the moment when Ishii and Seira huddled together and walked through the entrance of the love hotel.

“What!?”

A voice like a scream comes out of Seira’s mouth. Her eyes widened as well. Her big eyes get even bigger.

Seeing her reaction, it becomes clear that Seira is lying.

“Why? Why? Such a photo? Impossible. Impossible. Ah….”

Seira has finally come to her senses. She must’ve subconsciously realized that she had admitted to cheating on him.

“It’s already confirmed. You can’t get away with it.”

Sou tells her with a cold voice. He narrows his eyes slightly and makes a listless, desperate expression.

“Wait a minute! That was… I was just tempted! So please don’t break up with me….”

As if in despair, Seira screams. Her loud voice echoes through the rooftop. Her desperation is clear.

“It is too late now. You betrayed me. I can’t be together with a girl who is cheating on me. So, goodbye… Ito-san.”

Not feeling particularly guilty, Sou mumbles the words “goodbye”. Of course, he used a volume that reached Seira’s ears.

“No! I’ve dumped people before, but I’ve never been dumped. So don’t dump me! Don’t hurt me!!”

While blurting out unexpected words, Seira tries to get Sou to take back what he said.

If he continues to deal with Seira like this, he’ll never be able to go home. So there’s only one thing he can do.

“I’m sorry, but if you want to shout, please shout without me. Because I’m busy. I’m going home.”

Turning on his heels, Sou looks away from Seira without a trace of regret or lingering attachment and heads for the rooftop exit. As if leaving Seira behind.

“W-wait. My story isn’t over yet.”

With tears in her eyes, Seira tries to call out to Sou.

But it was a vain attempt.

Without paying the slightest attention, Sou faces forward and arrives at the rooftop exit.

Then, in one smooth movement, he left the rooftop.

With a bang, the sound of a door closing echoed meaninglessly across the rooftop where Seira was still standing.
