“Desnos, you haven’t increased your debt since then, have you?”

“…”

Desnos fell silent. Isaac couldn’t see his expression.

But he could clearly see the greasy sweat on Desnos’s neck.

“I told you, Mina and Lovecraft are keeping a close eye on me, so there’s nothing even I can do about it.”

“T-There are times when a man really needs money.”

“You’ve been giving your money to women again, haven’t you?”

Immediately, Desnos’ neck turned bright red, and she began to sweat profusely.

Isaac sighed in disappointment.

Desnos began to tremble.

Isaac came up with a reason why the supposed position of Knight Commander is working as a Field Policeman.

“At least if you had the status of Knight Commander, all would’ve been well. You overplayed your hand, and it backfired.”

“W-What are you talking about?”

“I know you bought your Knight Commander status with money.”

“What?!”

Desnos began to rock erratically, still holding Isaac in his arms.

“I only tolerated it because your skills and personality were fine, except for your womanizing. Mina knows this too, of course. But after you became Knight Commander, you spent all the money you had on women and didn’t make the necessary arrangements within the Knight Order, did you? It’s good that you jumped at the post left vacant by the sudden death of your predecessor, but status bought with money is fragile. Being forced to run errands like this is the price you should pay.”

Desnos’ cold sweat soaked the collar of his dirty shirt.

“But why don’t you cry to Mina? She and Lovecraft are your friends too, so they’ll do something about it.”

Then Desnos, who had been trembling, stopped dead in his tracks and said, his hands shaking with rage.

“I can’t do that! I have a man’s pride too!”

Desnos’s pride made Isaac tilt his head.

Desnos and his wife are Mina’s oldest and closest friends.

Apart from Desnos, who is a womanizer, Mina likes to help his wife when she is in trouble.

Suddenly, Isaac remembered an image he had seen on television earlier.

Lovecraft was giving a speech on the special stage, with Mina standing next to him.

And his female aides lined up behind him.

One of the aides was Desnos’ wife.

“Desnos, did Lovecraft steal your wife, Hisui (ヒスイ)?”

Desnos’s trembling stopped as if frozen. Then he let out a tremendous roar.

“Uoooooooo!!! Hii-hii-suiiii!!!”

Both the hostess and the young policeman, who were playing with their smartphones outside, were startled by the loud noise, covered their ears, and fell to the ground.

Desnos cries as he carries Isaac and begins to spin rapidly.

“D-D-Desnos… calm down!”

Isaac felt his life was in danger. Because Desnos’s eyes went blank.

“I will not forgive you! Lovecraft!!!”

Desnos screamed and jumped backward, slamming Isaac headfirst into the ground.

Isaac’s spine and neck made a sound he had never heard before. He almost lost consciousness.

Desnos, lost in rage, somehow, even more, attacked Isaac.

He took Isaac’s back, forced him face down, mounted him, then placed both hands on his chin and pulled him up as hard as he could.

His bent body was about to exceed a 90-degree angle. His spine couldn’t take much more.

Isaac turned to the hostess, and then a “Gong!” sound was heard.

“Stop both of you! I will not let any violence happen in my bar!”

The hostess rushed to the counter, grabbed a frying pan and ladle, and slammed them down with all her might.

As she did so, Desnos released Isaac and slowly stood up.

He raised both hands and roared in victory. “Woah!!!” he shouted.

What on earth is he doing?

Isaac, who had just been physically injured, was so stunned that he couldn’t even groan.

But for some reason, Isaac felt that this reunion with this womanizing bear was a divine arrangement.
