Chapter 6 TV Show Discussion with the Bar Hostess (4)
#Netorare KokuouTV Show Discussion with the Bar Hostess (4)
A squat old television was showing commentary on the upcoming elections.
This was not the first time parliamentary elections were held in this country.
Since the time of the monarchy, democracy has been gradually advancing; even during the reign of Isaac, the country had matured to the point where it could run with or without a king.
But this election is different.
The results of the election will directly determine the choice of head of state.
Depending on the outcome, the entire country is expected to undergo major changes, including the abolition of the monarchy.
Public interest is very high, and the media has been reporting daily on election studies and post-election predictions.
The two main forces in the election were the party led by Lovecraft, the “Republican Party” and the party made up of supporters from the privileged and wealthy classes, the “True Royal Party”.
However, according to the latest polls, the Republican Party has overwhelmed the True Royal Party, winning 80% of the seats.
Isaac rhythmically tapped the screen of his phone and looked at the pale screen of the squat old TV.
“Why did she go to all this trouble?”
“What is it?”
“It’s Mina. She didn’t have to hold an election; she just had to make herself king.”
“It’s probably because you’re missing and the situation is uncertain.”
“No, that’s why she should’ve said ‘the king is dead’ instead of saying he’s missing. He’s in the bushes anyway.”
Isaac unconsciously touches his chest wound.
“Just in case you come out and complain.”
“Even if I make a fuss by myself if those guys shut me down, that’s the end of it.”
“Or because she wanted to end the monarchy that tore her and Lovecraft apart.”
“That doesn’t make sense with Mina still being queen. Also, if the monarchy falls apart, the privileged will start making a fuss, and things will get complicated. They worship money more than the goddess.”
“By the way, it’s a strange name, isn’t it? Ma ō Tō (真王 党/True Royal/King Party). Money is the real king, right?”
On TV, the Secretary General of the True Royal Party criticizes the Republican Party on camera.
The Secretary-General, bald, oily, and with a belly that looked like it might burst from his expensive three-piece suit, criticized Lovecraft’s youth, lack of experience, low social status, and even his attractive looks, but all of his criticisms were shallow and lacking in substance and ultimately sounded just like the jealousy of an unpopular man.
He’s the True Royal Party’s sympathizer.
Most of the Republican support comes from Mina’s supporters and followers.
As long as Mina supports Lovecraft, no matter how much they criticize him, it will not affect the supporters of the Republican Party at all.
So can Mina be criticized? Of course not.
Mina’s name is synonymous with peace and prosperity for the country.
There is no one who can criticize her, and if he criticizes her badly, he will incur the anger of the people, and, on the contrary, the True Royal Party will suffer.
The secretary-general on television knows this, so he is forced to criticize only Lovecraft as if he were jealous of him.
“Is there no other way but to assassinate him?”
The hostess says some frightening things, but if it’s so one-sided, it seems that the True Royal Party has no other chance to win.
But Isaac dismisses the hostess’ opinion.
“Then they have to do something about Mina first, but that’s the hardest part.”
“Yeah. She’s the strongest on the continent.”
Isaac and the hostess could not help but cry at the sight of a middle-aged man, seemingly hated even by his daughter, having to fight the goddess and her lover.
“When this election is over, Lovecraft will be a national hero.”
Isaac poured water into his glass and moistened his lips.
Then the hostess clapped her hands, raised her index finger between Isaac’s eyebrows, and said.
“Ah. The reason why Mina-sama did not become king. How about because she wants to make her lover, Lovecraft, king and serve him?”
“Want to serve? A woman of her caliber?”
Isaac stopped tapping his finger on the screen of his phone and looked at the hostess.
“Yes. This election is the stage for making Lovecraft a hero. From the common people’s point of view, it’s unacceptable for Lovecraft to give orders to Mina-sama. But what if Lovecraft receives overwhelming support in this election? He will be able to stand by Mina-sama’s side. And if they hold the prime minister’s inauguration and wedding at the same time, and he becomes the king of this country in name and in reality, no one will be able to complain even if Mina-sama ends up serving Lovecraft in public and private.”
“Would she really go that far for that reason?”
Isaac growled, his eyes more focused on the tip of the hostess’s index finger.
The hostess’s assessment did not seem to resonate with the image of the strongest and greatest woman worshipped as the goddess of Mina, the goddess of war, and the precious sword.
But when he thought of the image of her in the bedroom, held by Lovecraft, humiliated and burning with lust, it actually made sense.
“In the arms of the man you love, you can be a normal woman.”
“That’s a great word.”
Isaac closes his eyes and says sincerely, then starts tapping rhythmically on the screen of his phone again.
The hostess looks at Isaac’s phone.
“Is that fun?”
“I don’t know.”
“It’s not cheap, is it?”
“… well….”
“Why don’t you just stop?”
“Not until a GG Rare comes out.”
“What will you do when it comes out?”
“I’ll finish some things I left unfinished.”
“What are the chances of getting it?”
“Only God knows.”
“You’ll be a wreck soon, you know?”
“…”
“What happens to the people left behind when you become a wreck?”
The hostess looks into Isaac’s eyes.
It’s as if she can see right through him, even though she shouldn’t be able to.
She looks directly at Isaac as if she blames him for turning away from what is important.
Isaac stops moving his fingers, looks down at the phone screen, and tries to say something.
But he remains silent.
