Chapter 18 Queen Mina Dreams of Isaac (3)
#Netorare KokuouQueen Mina Dreams of Isaac (3)
“Divorce Plan” is dated April. The handwriting is Isaac’s.
The content began with a review of the history of divorce in the royal family, including precedents, conventions, customs, and laws, and covered the meaning of divorce in the modern era, the consideration of necessary matters, and even the tasks and time required to achieve a divorce. If presented at an academic conference, it would be considered first-rate research.
“I wonder if he has enough free time to do this kind of independent research.”
Mina smiles in amazement, but her hands tremble as she holds the report.
It’s well-done research, but it’s only a generalization. She doesn’t think he’s really thought about divorce.
However, as if to mock Mina’s optimism, Isaac and Mina’s names are written all over the report. The dates and numbers are also very specific.
This is not a generalization. This is a battle plan.
Mina suddenly felt thirsty.
But even if Isaac was planning a divorce, it would be meaningless if he didn’t actually do something about it.
According to the report, granting a divorce required an enormous amount of practical work, including enacting new laws and changing customary practices, and at least a year of preparation.
There’s no way he could do something so big without Mina, who keeps an eye on all national affairs, knowing about it.
Realizing this, Mina took a deep breath and put the report on her desk. Her hands had stopped shaking.
She looked at the clock and saw that she had been out of her office for another hour.
Lovecraft had said she could take a break, but that wasn’t going to happen.
Mina put the report on the bookshelf and tried to hurry back to the dance hall.
But then she stopped.
A possibility crossed her mind regarding the divorce plan.
Mina hurried back to the bookshelf.
This time, she looked carefully at the other books besides the one with the report.
She found other books with slightly dented spines.
As she took the books out one by one, she found several hidden documents.
Mina was surprised by their contents.
Responses from lawyers, lobbying the Parliament, securing the necessary budget, requests from the Sacraments Division to remove treasures, and even copies of instructions to sabotage the ruins.
Isaac’s plan was already in motion.
What frightened Mina most was the evidence of her numerous affairs with Lovecraft.
Not only were there records of their repeated affairs in Isaac’s bedroom but also the images and sounds of their play in the hotel where they stayed in the shadow of the royal castle.
Mina’s face paled.
Isaac’s divorce plan was progressing steadily, anticipating every possible scenario, and in secret so that Mina wouldn’t find out.
A furious Isaac had probably intended to present this evidence to Mina and force her to accept it.
If nothing had happened to Isaac, Mina would’ve been forced to sign the divorce papers.
Isaac did not sleep lazily in this uncomfortable room. This was the main office of Isaac’s divorce plan.
Mina threw herself on the couch to bury herself in the reports.
She couldn’t stop trembling.
She was so shocked that she couldn’t think clearly.
She didn’t want a divorce.
She wanted to stay with Isaac.
She clutched the marriage ring in her left hand as if clinging to it.
It’s not that she’s worried about her position as queen.
She is well aware of her guilt.
But Mina is afraid that she will no longer be Isaac’s wife.
Just the thought of Isaac looking at her as if she were a stranger makes her freeze.
Mina wanted to be someone special for Isaac.
But Mina always betrayed Isaac.
She drowned in the pleasures Lovecraft gave her.
To top it off, she even stabs Isaac to death because she wants more pleasure from Lovecraft.
She had no intention of betraying Isaac in the first place. She doesn’t want to betray him now.
Still, she couldn’t escape Lovecraft’s arms. She sought that pleasure herself.
Was she punished?
Punished for hurting Isaac’s body, for threatening his life, for betraying him.
But even if God, the Devil, or the evil gods of the royal family or the world punished her, she wouldn’t be afraid.
The only thing Mina is afraid of is Isaac.
Isaac says nothing to Mina. He doesn’t try to touch her.
He is always smiling and laughing.
Mina suddenly feels uneasy.
She is afraid that Isaac will not even punish her.
No matter how many times Mina commits adultery, no matter how many times he sticks a sword into his body, Isaac just laughs at her.
The divorce plan wasn’t because he was angry, but because Mina was in his way. Mina was nothing in his eyes.
Not even an ounce of Isaac’s anger. Mina felt that Isaac seemed to think that she didn’t deserve any of his anger.
Mina felt more vulnerable than ever.
Then the tiredness and sleepiness she had been suppressing because of her strong sense of responsibility suddenly attacked her.
Mina didn’t have the strength to fight it.
She wished it was all a dream.
Like a child, Mina clutched the ring and fell into the world of dreams.
