Chapter 17 Queen Mina Dreams of Isaac (2)
#Netorare KokuouQueen Mina Dreams of Isaac (2)
Even at this late hour, there are still many officials walking through the corridors of the royal palace.
The officials stop in front of Mina, bow, and walk away.
The burden on her now is very heavy.
It was she who had brought the country into this situation.
With each bow from the officials, a feeling of remorse piled up in Mina’s heart.
If she had not tried to kill Isaac that night three months ago, or if she had not had s🬀x with Lovecraft in the first place, the country wouldn’t be in turmoil and Isaac wouldn’t have disappeared.
Mina’s body betrays her own heart just by being touched and desired by Lovecraft.
Ever since Isaac left, Mina has cursed her body.
Not a day goes by that she doesn’t want him back.
She knew it was selfish and shameless.
Mina was full of remorse.
So, at least, she set herself difficult tasks.
By keeping herself busy, she could avoid the temptations of Lovecraft.
Of course, this would not bring Isaac back.
But now Mina is alone at the top of the country, albeit only temporarily.
There is no one to punish her.
She must blame herself to keep her sanity.
Mina walks down a corridor and enters an old, ivy-covered building.
It was called the East Tower, and it was a forgotten building within the royal castle that almost no one ever approached.
Mina walked down the unoccupied corridor without turning on any lights.
Then she stopped in front of a majestically decorated black door and pushed it open.
When she entered the room and turned on the light on the table, a bookshelf that lined the walls, a large desk by the window, and a modest reception set emerged from the night’s darkness.
This had once been Isaac’s office.
Lovecraft tried to use this room after Isaac’s disappearance but found it difficult to get any work done there.
It was too simple for inviting guests and too small for distributing documents.
Most importantly, it was hopelessly inaccessible from all of the castle’s facilities.
It was as if the whole castle was keeping King Isaac away.
Mina came here to rest because it was quiet and no one came near.
Isaac might have used this room to take a nap.
Mina takes a small broom from the cupboard and begins to clean up the dust that has accumulated.
Mina took care of Isaac’s personal needs as much as she could. Cleaning this room was one of the things she did, and even now, whenever she came to take a break, she would start cleaning without thinking.
However, cleaning the room that had lost its owner was done in no time.
Bored, Mina started looking at the spines of the books on the shelves one by one.
They all looked good, but the contents were tasteless history books, ignored by the reader, and she could think of no other use for them than as backgrounds for memorial photos.
In fact, none of them looked new, and there was no sign that they had been picked up.
Mina felt a little uneasy about one of the books.
The top edge of the spine was distorted as if someone’s finger had been caught on it repeatedly.
It was a book from the Middle Ages, 500 years ago.
She wondered if Isaac was interested in that time period.
So she picked it up, and with a thud, something moved inside the book.
When she opened it, she found that the book had been hollowed out and a thick document was hidden inside.
The title of the document, written in familiar handwriting, was “Divorce Plan”.
“…”
As if she had seen nothing, Mina put the document back in its place and pushed the book back on the shelf.
Then she took a small broom and brushed off the dust again.
But with the owner gone and the room she had just cleaned, there was no dust left, and Mina soon felt bored again.
Mina sat on the couch and stared at the light on the table.
She could hear the clock ticking.
After a moment, Mina’s body shook, and she looked around in panic.
“Here? I see. I’m here for a break….”
She looked at her watch and saw that it had been 30 minutes since she left the dance hall.
“I have to go back now.”
Mina stood up and put her hand on the door.
But she stopped moving, her hand still on the door.
Then she turned around and went to the bookshelf.
Then she picked up the book she had just picked up, sat down on the couch, and started reading it page by page.
