Chapter 71 Her Best Friend

Her Best Friend

It was morning again.

When I opened the window, it was cloudy, and there was not much sunlight. I checked the weather on my phone and found that it was supposed to rain this afternoon.

It looks like I need to bring an umbrella today.

With that in mind, I left the room, stood in front of the sink, and washed my face.

My face was the same as usual. It’s a face that has never been praised like Yoka’s.

I splashed water on my face, wiped it off, and went into the living room.

“Good morning, Nii-san. Let’s go together today, too.”

“Good morning, Yoka. Understood.”

We take our seats and start eating breakfast.

Since yesterday, Yoka has suggested that I should leave the house earlier than before, so I eat quietly and at a pace that doesn’t make me choke.

After breakfast, I get ready for school and go to the front door, only to find Yoka waiting for me.

“Well, let’s go together, okay?”

“Understood.”

I put on my shoes, grabbed my umbrella, and took a step outside.

We arrived at the station and boarded the train without saying a word to each other.

After a ten-minute ride to the station closest to the school, we got off the train and walked through the gate.

The weather was almost the same as yesterday, except for the cloudy sky, and I thought it would be a part of every morning from now on, but one thing happened that was different from yesterday.

That is,

“Sh-Hiiragi-kun. I didn’t know you’d be here so early. Good morning. And… I’m sorry.”

Kanzaki Momoka is there, apologizing to me again.

I wonder why. I had thought that since we changed the time, we would no longer meet here.

I looked at Yoka next to me, and quickly, she was standing in front of me as before, looking at Kanzaki-san with a wry smile.

“Why are you here?”

“It has nothing to do with Hiiragi-san, right?”

“It’s related. I’m his sister.”

“Well, I’ll see you later. See you, Hiiragi-kun too.”

Saying that, Kanzaki-san ran away from Yoka and ran towards the school.

“… Is it still not enough to change the time? I need more…”

Yoka mumbled something, then said, “Shall we go too?” and started walking.

On the way to school, Yoka walked next to me, looking like she was thinking about something. It must’ve been about what she just said.

There are a lot of things I don’t understand, either.

Why does Kanzaki-san keep apologizing to me?

Why does Yoka want to go to school with me?

There are many other things I don’t understand.

While I was walking and thinking about all these things, before I knew it, we were at school, so I parted ways with Yoka.

When I got to the classroom, Kanzaki-san, who had arrived earlier, had, of course, taken her seat and was reading something.

I sat in my seat as well and reviewed the material for the quiz.

Just like yesterday, the number of people gradually increased, and the classroom became noisy.

I looked at the watch, and it was almost time for the bell to ring.

“Hey, Hiiragi-kun.”

“…? Yeah, what is it?”

I turned around when I was called, and there she was, Machida Yuka, a best friend of Kanzaki-san’s who I had a little relationship with when I was dating Kanzaki-san before.
