Chapter 65 Greetings from the Sister

“Welcome back, Nii-san.”
“I’m home, Yoka.”
When I opened the front door, Yoka was there again today.
“Did you come home with the student council president and Shinomiya-san today?”
“Yes.”
“I see. Is it fun? With the student council president and Shinomiya-san.”
“I think it’s fun.”
“I see. That’s good.”
Saying that, Yoka smiles. However, her smile looks a little different from the smiles of Aoi-senpai and Shinomiya-san.
Maybe my eyes are mistaken, but I’m not sure.
Suddenly, I remembered the question Shinomiya-san asked me at lunch.
(Has anything happened to your sister Yoka-san recently?)
What was the meaning of that question?
There’s nothing strange about my sister Yoka. Yoka just says (welcome back) like this, although I don’t know why.
Nothing special…
I take off my shoes, enter the house, and go to the bathroom to wash my hands.
“Nii-san, can I ask you something?”
“…? Yes?”
Did she just say she wanted to ask me something, that Yoka?
I wonder if there is something that even the genius Yoka doesn’t understand.
I wipe my hands after washing and look at Yoka.
“What kind of people are the student council president and Shinomiya Saya?”
“Aoi-senpai and Shinomiya-san?”
Yoka asked me such a question.
What kind of people are Aoi-senpai and Shinomiya-san?
I had never thought about that before.
“I think they are both strong and kind people.”
Aoi-senpai was the one who told me she was my friend and helped me when there were strange rumors about me. I’m sure that she is a kind person. She must’ve gone through many incidents, but she always looked forward to the future.
Shinomiya-san is the same kind of person who calls me her friend, and she looks forward without turning away from her past where she was bullied.
I thought about it again, and even though they both say that they are my friends, I feel that it would be better if I were not with them.
I feel it’s just a waste of time if they were with me. Because I’m an unworthy person.
“Well, thank you for answering my question. They are both wonderful people.”
“I agree.”
After I finished answering the questions, I left the bathroom, went upstairs, and arrived in front of my room.
“May I finish?”
“Yes?”
“What kind of people are those two to Nii-san?”
Are they both to me?
“Friends, I think.”
They say that about me, to such a failure. So I thought I should return the favor.
Even though I don’t know what a friend is, and I don’t think I ever will.
“I see, thank you.”
Yoka left after hearing my words and went back to her room.
I watched her for some reason and then opened the door to my room…
Shinomiya’s POV
[So, what did you want to talk about?]
“No, it’s something I don’t even know if it’s that important, but just in case.”
I decided to use Aoi-senpai’s time to tell her about something that has been bothering me lately.
I may be thinking too much, but…
“It’s about Shuu-senpai’s sister, Yoka-san.”
[Yes?]
“Lately, I feel like I’m being talked to more and more by that girl.”
[I see.]
It’s not like anything else has happened.
We just exchanged casual greetings like good morning and goodbye, but this has never happened before.
[It’s not like she did anything to you or anything, right?]
“Yes. She didn’t do anything to me and we just talked a little.”
[…Let’s wait and see. She didn’t do anything to us, and she helped us with that incident. But be a little careful.]
“Understood.”
I hope nothing happens…
