Chapter 160 The Cornered Manager

The Cornered Manager

Manager Tachibana’s PoV

I could hardly sleep.

It’s hard to get up, but somehow I manage to get ready for school. I have to go to school today. If I don’t, the club members will fall apart.

So even if I have to push myself, I have to move.

I ate my breakfast and went to school. It was raining outside…

“What should I do? First, I’ll go to the club room and…Ah, there was that suspicious phone call, so maybe there’s a bug in the club room. Maybe there is already a traitor in the club. What should I do then? I can’t trust anyone anymore…”

I can’t stop my heart from pounding.

Just as I am about to enter the school gate, I feel faint and collapse…

No, I can’t stop. I can’t let it end here.

“…Someone…”

I let out a faint cry and called for help.

“Are you okay?”

I hear a male student’s voice.

My eyes were blurry and I couldn’t see who it was.

“I’ll take you to the infirmary. …”

I heard several students and teachers coming and I fainted.

The Infirmary

White ceiling and smell of chemicals.

“Are you okay?”

I hear the school nurse’s voice clearly.

It seems to be the infirmary.

Involuntarily, I almost closed my eyes again. Then I immediately remembered the situation I was in and got out of bed.

“What time is it?”

In response to my call, Mitsui-sensei says with a soft voice,

“It’s almost the end of the first period. You’re probably anemic, so rest a little longer… I’m going to call your homeroom teacher, so I’ll be out of the room for a while. You definitely need to rest.”

I was told so strongly and left on the bed in the infirmary.

What should I do? No, if the class has already started, there is almost nothing I can do. I can’t force them to gather. If I do, we’ll come under even more suspicion.

“There is nothing I can do, I can only hope that the other club members will hear about my situation and meet after school.”

I make the decision to move, but fear shakes my body. What am I doing? I’m doing something so pathetic. It’s like admitting that I really have no talent.

I saw a shadow outside the infirmary. Who is it?

I brace myself.

“Excuse me. I left my textbook here, so I came to get it. Oh, is Sensei not here?”

I see the student I least want to see enter the infirmary. I tried to hide, but there was no place to hide.

He had everything I wanted, he noticed me and froze.

“Manager…?”

“Eiji-kun…?”

The unexpected encounter confused my mind and I could do nothing but freeze…
