Chapter 145 Pursuit of Councilor Kondo

Pursuit of Councilor Kondo

Councilor Kondo’s PoV

Everything I had built up was about to collapse.

My position, honor, money, and family would all be gone. I was about to succeed my late father as mayor. To get that position, I tried hard to raise funds, bribe the center, and do everything I could to get that position.

“Why, I was just trying to cover up my son’s bullying problem, why, why, why?”

I was a mental wreck. If I lost my government job, my company would be finished.

“Don’t worry, the bigwigs in the center should be able to help me. They should also be afraid of me because I’m the one who keeps their secrets. When push comes to shove, I’ll take them all with me.”

It’ll be a big scandal. I’ll tell the public everything. No, I’ll threaten them. That alone should have an effect.

“Kondo-san, you have a visitor. Normally, only lawyers are allowed to visit, but this time it’s special.”

Just when I thought that, he came. He’s such a big guy that he even twisted the rules of the original visitation. This must be his assistant. I knew heaven hadn’t abandoned me…

I hurried to the visiting room.

There was a familiar face, but not the one I was looking for.

“Hello, Kondo-kun. Are you comfortable in the detention center?”

The person who brought me here. Secretary General Ugaki was waiting for me with an evil smile.

“Why, it’s you…”

“Oh, I used to be the chairman of the National Public Security Commission. You know that. It’s a position that oversees the police. So I know a lot of people here.”

I’m horrified by his evil smile. The man in front of me holds the power of life and death in his hands.

What if he told his men to kill me? What if he poisoned my food or murdered me by faking my s🬀🬀cide …

Forced silence. This man would do it. He already thinks I’m nothing but an insect.

Don’t say anything else. That’s what his eyes tell me. If he can twist the rules of this place, my efforts to get out will be in vain.

Even if I die here, no one will mourn me. [He was an enemy of the people, and when his misdeeds were exposed, he became desperate and died in prison.] I can see everyone applauding and rejoicing at my death.

(Somebody help me, I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die.)

I fell off my chair and hit my head on the wall, calling for help. My battered spirit has finally reached its limit.

“Hey, I’m sure you won’t be sentenced to death for corruption. Calm down. All right, I’ll give you something next time. Maybe some fruit?”

Food? I knew it.

(He’s probably trying to poison me. I won’t be fooled. I’ll survive. I’ll tell them everything. I won’t go to hell alone!)

The General Secretary, with a wry smile on his face, gets up from his seat and says, “Well, this is not good…”

(Absolutely, absolutely, I will survive.)

“Idiots are easy to use. They make up their own stories and ruin themselves.”

He laughs as he says this to his secretary.

“Are you talking about Councilor Kondo? Or are you talking about the Prime Minister…?”

“Well, I wonder which one it is. Either way, everything is going according to plan.”
