Ai vs. Miyuki
Ai’s PoV
This unexpected encounter leaves me speechless. Let’s not think about how she knows my name for now.
Given her bold approach, it’s easy to imagine that the rumors about me and Senpai have already reached the ears of his ex-girlfriend, Amada Miyuki.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Ichijo Ai.”
I said coldly. I really didn’t want to have a conversation with her.
“Em, aren’t you with Eiji today?”
She didn’t even return my greeting and instead asked with a trembling voice.
“You say that like you see us together all the time. You were indeed Senpai at school, but this is the first time I’m talking to you, Amada-san. Since your question goes into rather personal details, I don’t feel obligated to answer, do I?”
I ended up speaking rather harshly. I don’t care if she hates me.
“Because I’m Eiji’s girlfriend…”
I can’t believe my ears. How can she still think she’s going out with him after treating him so badly? This lunatic!
“Really? But Amada-san, didn’t you choose Kondo-senpai from the soccer team? You ditched your childhood friend boyfriend, Aono Eiji, who had supported you all along. Worst of all, on his birthday, you…”
I dared to speak as if I knew everything. This was to confirm that the information I had was correct.
“Uh… That’s …”
As I thought, she was at a loss for an answer. I guess I was right.
“I think your relationship is over at this point, right? And you cheated on him, which is the worst way to end a relationship.”
“Ah, that’s because…”
I knew it! She wouldn’t answer my questions.
“If you can’t answer, that means it’s true, right?”
She stood on the verge of tears, her eyes downcast.
I already knew about her affair, how she betrayed her beloved lover, and how she made false accusations to save her own skin.
Here, I could have scolded and condemned her, but it would have been pointless for an outsider like me to push her further into a corner. Instead, I decided to calmly tell her where I stood. I gave her a cold stare as she fumbled to defend herself.
“…We’ve been together for over a decade.”
“You were the one who betrayed him. All the trust built over those ten years was destroyed by your actions. What’s worse, you did it in a terribly cruel way. Love is a free feeling, but if you developed feelings for someone else, you should have broken up with Eiji-senpai properly. At the very least, that’s what you should have done. However, you didn’t. On top of that, you did something as disgusting as cheating on him and dumping him on his birthday. Why? Why would you make such a good-hearted person suffer?”
My words became harsh. I spoke faster than ever.
“Breaking up with Eiji was not my intention. We had been together for so long, and he was my first love. But I made a mistake with Senpai, and we ended up in an unfaithful relationship. Initially, I thought it would be brief, and I’d go back to Eiji. And yet… and yet… That day, I met him by chance. In a place where we weren’t supposed to meet. Somehow, he was there…”
She spoke like a broken machine, her self-pity overflowing as if she were a tragic heroine.
“But you’re the perpetrator. You speak as if you’re the one suffering, but it’s Eiji-senpai who has suffered the most. In my opinion, it sounds like you’re just being selfish.”
“Uuh…”
She collapsed onto the hard asphalt.
“And why did you spread those false rumors? Because of that, he…”
I twisted my mouth in a panic, almost letting the truth slip out. I knew it wasn’t something I should reveal.
“I was afraid. I was afraid of being left all alone. Eiji and I can’t go back to how we were. That’s why I clung to Senpai. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
She repeated her apologies, claiming she had no choice but to cling to him.
I couldn’t help but feel angry at her words.
“Just for that reason!?”
I asked sharply.
“Eh?”
That attitude wasn’t what I was looking for.
“You were willing to ruin the life of that gentleman, Aono Eiji, just for that!”
“Hiik!”
She let out a short scream, startled by my sharp tone. I wanted to slap her, but a strong reason stopped me. If I did, I would be no different from this selfish woman. She wasn’t a human being, just a wretched beast driven by selfish lust.
“Eiji-senpai… that day after summer vacation. He almost died. That kind-hearted man was pushed so far by you that he considered ending his life. What did he do wrong? He just wanted to spend his birthday happily with his girlfriend. But you… You trampled on someone else’s goodwill, spread lies, and pushed him to the brink of s🬀🬀cide. I will never forgive such a despicable act! I will never forgive any of you. Stay away from him from now on. Excuse me!”
“Eh! Eiji… commits s🬀🬀cide…?”
Amada-san’s complexion turned deathly pale, her emotions seemingly drained away. But there was nothing more to say. I walked away, ignoring her crumbling form.
