Conflict between Cheating Couple
Miyuki’s PoV
I collapsed on the spot, but after a while, the dizziness subsided, and I managed to stand. It seemed Eiji and Ichijo Ai were completely unaware of my presence.
I bought some soup from a convenience store—something easy to heat—and ate it as soon as I got home. Mealtime, once enjoyable, had become a mere obligation to survive. I couldn’t help but wonder what Eiji and Ichijo Ai were doing now. Were they having a pleasant meal at Kitchen Aono? Maybe they’d gone to a more upscale place, or perhaps tonight was something even more special…
My head swirled. Although I should be hungry, I had no appetite.
Suddenly, Kondo-senpai called.
“Yes, this is Miyuki.”
[Hey, Miyuki? What are you doing now?]
“I was eating…”
[I need to calm down. Can you talk to me for a bit?]
Normally, I’d accept his invitation without hesitation, but after what I saw today and those photos…
Besides, he should know my mother is in the hospital, yet he seems entirely indifferent.
“Sorry, I’m not feeling well.”
I realized now that, in his eyes, I was nothing more than a woman to toy with.
[Please, just for a little while. Come listen to me!]
His insistence made me more certain of the truth.
“Senpai, you only see me as a plaything, don’t you?”
If it were Eiji, he’d notice right away that something was wrong. He’d worry about my tone, ask about my mother, and probably come over to check on me.
I’d thrown away such a precious childhood friend.
[Huh? What’s with you all of a sudden?]
“You’re not worried about me. Besides, I saw a photo of you and another woman going into a love hotel together.”
[That? It’s an old photo from before we met. She was stalking me! Now I’m in trouble because those pictures are circulating in the club. That’s why I wanted to talk to you. I didn’t mean to startle you.]
His apology felt hollow, void of sincerity.
“I see.”
[Yes, exactly. Please believe me.]
Dirty. This man was utterly vile.
“The bracelet I gave you—the one I knitted for you to wear at the game—is visible in that photo. Still calling it old?”
[That’s…]
At that moment, I despised the part of me that was once so naive and feminine.
“Don’t lie to me!”
My voice was shockingly cold.
[Th-that must’ve been photoshopped…]
I’d liked him so much before, but now even the sound of his voice irritated me to the core.
“And?”
At this point, it was like he was admitting it was real. If he’s going to lie, at least come up with something better.
[Tch!]
He clicked his tongue loudly. His sudden change in demeanor made words escape my lips.
“Eh…”
[I hate it when Menhera types like you act clingy, act like my girlfriend at the drop of a hat. It’s so annoying.]
His words felt like a blade to my heart. I’d known his true nature, but hearing it firsthand still shocked me.
“…”
[And by the way, what cheating are you even talking about? Were we even dating? No, we weren’t. Stop playing the victim and deluding yourself. You’re one of the main bullies, aren’t you? Considering your history with Aono, you’re the worst one here, you b🬀🬀ch!]
The call ended with that vile tirade.
“Why did I throw everything away for him? I’ve done something I can never undo…”
My lonely words echoed through the empty room.
